Operation Paukenschlag, very often also called Unternehmen Paukenschlag, was one of the most devastating endeavours
of the German WWII Kriegsmarine against the U.S., after the US Navy had been playing a false game:

On paper they pretended to be neutral, but it was long known that their escorts protected British convoys more than often,
while the German U-Boote were to follow their strict orders to not attack any US-flagged shipping at all to avoid having the
U.S. enter the war - which had already turned the tide in the first part of this war...

But this was to change after the Japanese conducted their air raid on Pearl Harbor and caused unbelievable havoc...
...and their twofaced game cost the U.S. approximately 400 ships and 5000 sailors with more than 2.000.000 tons lost!

On 19411211 at approximately 04:00 the announcement carried throughout the sub pens and docks at Lorient:
"Achtung! Alle U-Boot-Kommandanten are to personally report to the 2.U-Flottillenchef to pick up their orders
for Operation Paukenschlag. Be prepared to get underway at the earliest opportunity. Gute Jagd!"

The base was alive with activity as the crews of the U-Boote hustled about making preparations for getting underway.

it makes sure that only the free and currently unused U-Boote are available for registration and so none of the U-Boote
can be played by two players at the same time.

We will be assigned to the 2nd Flotilla, operating out of Lorient, France, using long range U-Boote of Typ IX.
We will travel an extensive distance to reach our objectives with limited resupplies. Other than that, expect
A LOT OF FUN !!! Especially with our customized orders in a very eye-appealing format.

No need to worry. Start when you can, there is no pressure to keep up with any other participants. You simply run
your campaign patrols at your own pace. If you get behind in the schedule, simply keep staff informed and respond to
PM inquiries. Regardless, complete your patrol as soon as you can. Your next patrol will be whatever your patrol
period then will be. If a Kommandant is inactive for 30 days without contacting BdU, the U-Boot is declared 'MIA'.
If a Kommandant is inactive for 60 days without contacting BdU, the U-Boot is declared 'Lost At Sea', and the
Kommandant is removed from the active roster.

[SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO START ON SH3]

SH3 with mods and addons offers much more than any other game, so here are some specific instructions:
1. Have both JSGME and S3C installed outside your SH3-game-directory
2. Use S3F, it helps you to have and manage multiple installations easily
3. Download and activate "Encrusted Grids Mod by REViSi0N" via JSGME
4. In S3C for month select 12, for year 1941 and follow [HOWTO] - Adjust The Patrol Start Date
5. select 2.U-Flottille
6. then enter your Kommandant name and U-Boot number,
7. and then enter your assigned grid that you have received in your orders (ex. BB46).
8. Run the game
