IV. IMPORTANT

Teamspeak is important! Communication is essential! We expect that you talk to us and BE AROUND. This is not a child care center, this is an ELITE group. So present due diligence and act Elite!

We have made very bad experiences with ignorant members who did not bother to get things right, which is actually TOTALLY EASY because we provide you with everything necessary. The result of their ignorance always was that their threads looked abandonned because their pictures expired. N-O-B-O-D-Y wants to sit down on saturday evenings and spend extra hours to clean after people who are just plain lazy or careless - and you would not want to know how often people joined who habitually put that useless makework onto our tables - for nothing, no thanks, no donation, nada.

This might sound harsh and rude, but it has never worked in more "polite words": If done wrong and pictures disappear, because you ignore our help, we delete your thread. Easy as that. So get your act together, it is really easy and we do not want to "refry beans" here!

There is much to read and many new options to you. Take your time and remember we all make mistakes, I (Blitzkrieg) probably make the most. But in case you encounter any problems or have any questions, please use your own brain first and try to find a solution in the documentation that we gave you. In any case, do not write mails back and forth, come and talk on Teamspeak or ask in the Buero of the Flottillenchef.

V. CONSIDERATE BEHAVIOUR & CODE OF CONDUCT

You are to present considerate behaviour: Nobody is going to chop your head off if you burp once, but if you habitually and regularly do that, everybody else surely WILL get annoyed. The same applies to alcohol consumption, while we do not judge what you do at home, we certainly do not tolerate "liquored-up players" and drunkards. We have already survived Poske/xvii, Blueduck/LSH, Urmel/LSH and KapitanDeepblue/Deep Raiders. NO MORE! YOU WILL BE KICKED FROM OUR GAME-SERVER IF FOUND DRUNK OR HIGH!

:ok: We DO:
- keep touch
- show activity - REGULARLY!
- report in at least once every 30 days
- do our best to represent DEF as place of brimming activity BY POSTING
- put our possible-TS3-times into the calendar - REGULARLY!
- during or after that meeting we set that calendar entry to (example):
"2100 CET BK + MA + VS", indicating WHEN and WHO talked

Typ IXb
The type IXb was a much larger U-Boot than the type VII. Developed as a long range U-Boot, it had a operational range of 19,312 km / 12000 miles. The IXb was the most successful U-Boot type in the Kriegsmarine in WWII, in that it had the highest average tonnage per U-Boot. It was the U-Boot type that attacked the American coast in January 1942 in operation Drumbeat. The boat shown in the photograph is U-106. It was sunk on the 2 August 1943 north-west of Cape Ortegal, Spain.

16:30 After engaging freighter with deck gun, a second one became visible ahead of her. Then we were charged by a destroyer from out of the mist, firing as she bore down off our port bow.
Alarm dive to 140 metres, changing direction.

Throughout attack, hydrophone operator is able to provide clear reporting of destroyer's bearing and approach, assisting continued evasive manoeuvring.

Finally, about 16:00, hydrophone contact is lost astern after nearly two hours of frequent and heavy depth charging. Boat undamaged. To periscope depth for sound and visual checks.

15:00 Conditions remain clear so we turn west to increase range from land-based aircraft and start bringing in external torpedo reloads. Flak manned.

15:50 Suddenly, before the first torpedo is inboard, we are attacked by a pair of landplanes!

All flak returns heaviest fire and the bombers break off their strafing run without dropping bombs.

The attack is quickly repeated, starting with more machine-gun fire.

The boat shakes and rocks violently and fountains of water shower the bridge and flak crew.

Despite this, the decks can now be cleared and we crash dive in an interval between attacks, with the first rounds from the next one falling around us.

We are barely below when more bombs splash into the water, somewhere above and behind us.

The boat is thrown about by the impact and all hands expect the worst.

But we survive the barrage, level the boat and make a start on repairs. Some minor knocks and sprains amongst the crew are attended to.

No leaks apparent in pressure hull, valves or seals. As well as damage to apparatus in radio, sound and control rooms including main pump, in the tower, both periscopes
and the radio antenna are damaged. Boat brought up to 20 meters and revolutions reduced while internal repairs are made.

UNFORTUNATELY U-105 HAS NEVER RESPONDED AGAIN. EVENTUALLY IT WAS DECLARED LOST AT SEA.
