All of my tools are FREE FOR EVERYONE and AVAILABLE WITHOUT ENFORCED REGISTRATION.
I am willing to help rather than only talk hot air or do some bloody "welcome, welcome, donate here please"-
doodle, but leave users out in the rain, if only they donate...

All I ask is to stop donating to those who delete my work and only seem to collect money for their new motor bike/ranch/mower.
Think about it! STOP DONATING TO SABOTEURS! Rather donate to those who actually DO the work to facilitate players.
Ask yourselves, folks: Who has programmed this? Whose tool are you using FOR FREE? And? Why not spend that guy a pizza and a beer?!

HERE YOU CAN GET EVERYTHING FOR FREE AND WITHOUT ENFORCED REGISTRATION! AND WITHOUT SUBSIM'S MONEY-BEGGING!

What is SuSi's money-begging?
They accuse you of mail spamming when 1 member gets 2 invitations during 1 whole year, but they themselves spam you with their money-begging at least the same amount of time. Also their welcome-comitee does nothing else than spamming each and every thread with "welcome, please donate here, see the benefits" - without relating or remotely bothering to answer the true question of the thread at all.

How it began...
Please allow me to show you something that you will love: my newest program. "S3F" stands for Silent Hunter III-Front-End and is an all-purpose-tool for our beloved #1 U-Boot-simulation: SH3. It is available FREELY for everyone and FREE of charge. Here in this very thread you will find everything you need. I sincerely hope my tool will enhance game fun and reduce installation woes for you folks! The background-idea of S3F was born when I was working for the LSH-DEV-TEAM. The whole story is included with the release-version - so long story short here:

Have you ever thought...

...that there are way too many different tools for SH3 to handle out there?
 S3F uses all you need!

...that the copying and configuration of multiple installations is not intuitive enough?
S3F does just that for you!

...that patching and configuring mods in multiple locations is "too hard, too heavy", too?
S3F solves just that!

...that "H.sieing" takes too much handwork?
S3F now includes "automated H.sie"!

...that installing "Stiebler" takes too much handwork?
S3F soon includes "Stiebler"!

...that you would eventually like to have a "all-in-one-box-lovely-solution"?
S3F is just that!

I believe S3F eases life of every SH3-player and replaces many tools used before with new functions in an ALL-IN-ONE-solution. I am open to new ideas and constructive feedback. Interesting to know is that as time went by, more than one member of LSH joined the efforts of S3F - some open and officially, some undercover because they feel they would get into trouble with their self-declared LSH-spokesman... well that guy is dead now anyways. Not worth mentioning.

Bookmark this thread and see that I regularly update it with new releases, ideas and I also keep a transparent change-log which is thus open to be viewed by everyone.

Highlights & Key-Features at a Glance
Highlights & Key-Features at a Glance:
█ = COMPLETED
█ = IN THE WORKS, WITH RESULTS ALREADY VISIBLE
█ = NOT BEGUN WITH SO FAR
  • has been tested working on Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8/8.1, and 10.
  • works with all known Mega-Mods for SH3 (GWX, NYGM, WAC etc.)
  • scans ALL fixed harddisks installed in your computer
  • scans a particular area that you may select
  • seeks files pertaining to SH3
  • recognizes which Mega-Mod(s) you have installed
  • replaces (=includes!) with new code:
  • 4GB-Patch dependent on what  Proc_Architecture you are running - FINISHED 20140411
  • S3M is a complete recode of MultiSH3 V1.0.1.0 plus copy-function (!) - FINISHED 20140419
  • APi-File-Data V0.9 (=SH3 Version-Check) - FINISHED 20140412
  • S3H is a recode that completely applies the H.sie-patch - FINISHED 20141218
  • S3S is a recode of the 4C-Code-Addon by Stiebler
- recognizes and MD5Sum-validates previously installed versions of:
  • JSGME V2.6.0.157 - FINISHED 20140326
  • S3C V3.2.0.203 - FINISHED 20140326
    Enforce S3C-ROLLBACK
Verify that S3C has completely rolled back
  • SH3-MissionEditor - FINISHED 20140326
  • SH3-MissionEditorX2 - FINISHED 20140326
  • H.sie-OptionsSelector - FINISHED 20140326
  • Stiebler-OptionsSelector - FINISHED 20141220
  • SetKeys V1.3 - FINISHED 20140412
With this ONE found version for every tool listed here, S3F is able to run any SH3-installation. Not more than only ONE version each is necessary and S3F provides code for that. S3F only uses MD5Sum-validated   versions, i.e. unchanged and current versions as listed above. Outdated versions of the tools listed above are ignored.

This especially applies for users of the good, but old GWX 3.0 Gold: This mega-mod has an outdated JSGME included. So if you want S3F to recognize JSGME, update to the latest version of JSGME and do not ask this over and over again - it is LOGIC!

S3F allows you to...
█ = COMPLETED
█ = IN THE WORKS, WITH RESULTS ALREADY VISIBLE
█ = NOT BEGUN WITH SO FAR
  • ...scan your system and find every installation of SH3...
  • ...auto-detect a number of well-known tools/add-ons and lets you use them...
  • ...make as many copies as you want...
  • ...configure them...
  • ...patch them...
  • ...configure mods...
  • ...upgrade your SH3-installation to V1.6B1 automatically...
  • ...soon even up to V1.6B1-4C
  • ...and play SH3 without fiddling with dozens of files, outdated resources and broken download-links...
  • ...and run all that from only ONE DYNAMICALLY BUILT MENU...
In short: S3F itself is actually very intuitive and straight-forward-easy to handle. It finds what you have and brings everything onto ONE screen.
Simply select one of your SH3-installations and then choose which program to run for that selection.
ENJOY that you now can have everything that you need for SH3 in the palm of your hand...

S3F does what one of SuSi's favourite programmers, JScones, had dreamed of:

Source: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showpost.php?p=358360&postcount=43

...S3F does just all that...and more...read on!

module_SFSF lets you:
 █ = COMPLETED

█ = IN THE WORKS, SOME RESULTS MAY ALREADY BE VISIBLE
█ = NOT BEGUN WITH SO FAR
  • SFSF synchronizes with our |DEF|-server and tells you if there is another updated version available.
  • SFSF creates a short report for debugging and puts it on our |DEF|-report-server.
  • SFSF displays the user if i am online, so we can have a chat and I can give you live assistance on TS3.
  • SFSF allows you to connect to our TEAMSPEAK3-Server, where you can discuss the results with others.
  • SFSF automatically applies the 4GB-Tuning
  • SFSF automatically configures your SH3.exe to run in compatibility-mode
  • SFSF lets you configure to have the silly LSH2015-installer recognize your installation
  • SFSF lets you configure to have the silly LSH2020-installer recognize your installation
  • SFSF-code integrated into S3F

You need an own legal copy of SH3. Accordingly, you select which FiX you wish to apply, it is really not difficult:
If you installed your game from any DVD -> apply the Starforce-Fix
If you downloaded your game from Steam -> apply the Steam-Fix
If you downloaded your game from Uplay/Ubiconnect -> apply the Steam-Fix
If you got your game from any other NON-DVD-source -> apply the Steam-Fix

[STARFORCE-FiX]
"STARFORCE-FIX - why it is necessary, what it does and how to use it": show
StarForce (DVD only)

The information that you are reading just now replaces all earlier threads which come up when you search...
The background of the StarForce-issue has been very well explained by our deceased leader, good old LaufenzumZiel:

Ubisoft didn't want to pay the upgrade cost for any StarForce updates available with Vista supporting the "old" SH3 software. If you run Vista or any later Windows operating system the original StarForce drivers won't be compatible, while any up to date StarForce drivers won't be compatible with the game.

The error is "Error: This application can only be launched with a release version of Miscrosoft Windows 95 OSR2.1/98/ME NT 4.0/2000/XP/ Server 2003 only." and you can NOT fix that by running the game as administrator, that is nonsense because the driver itself is the problem.

The good news: The drivers won't install as long as you don't start the game.

To get you aboard you'll have to install the game NOT into the default path but something like C:\games\... - or whatever UAC unprotected path you think fits.
IMPORTANT: It is common knowledge of 15+ years experience with SH3, that you NOT install SH3 to...
  • locations that Windows UAC (Vista and newer Windows-versions) such as c:\Programs or any location in "x86"
  • the very same location where it already is (I thought that is obvious and logic, but SuSi-members...you know...)
  • anywhere else in Windows's reach.

Don't start the game, don't install any 3rd party software provided with your DVD.
Check the installation directory for the SH3.exe and rightclick it.
Select Properties and the tab "Details" to read the version number of your SH3.exe.

If it reads 1.4.0.1 you have a patched and in 50% of the cases StarForce-free installation.
To check that, remove the DVD and try to start the game. If it works, you are good to go - otherwise: PATCH USING SFSF!

If it is 1.0.0.0 you have the original, unpatched, starforced version. Starting the game will install the incompatible StarForce drivers and you've messed it up. SO DO NOT FUCKING DO IT! DO NOT START THE GAME! You'll have to patch to 1.4b and PATCH USING SFSF to get rid of the game checking for StarForce and the DVD. It doesn't have any consequences with other starforced software, as long as you didn't install the old drivers and have to remove the StarForce crap with the SFSF-tool. Only this will interfere with any other StarForce protected game installations.

Furthermore, the old removal-tool is no longer needed. SFSF is the better choice and does more than that old tool. You may want to read more about StarForce. After using this STARFORCE-Fix, you can install any mods to SH3 easily and without conflict.

SFSF lets you apply the AUTOMATED STARFORCE-FiX:
  • players can now install their old DVD under Win7-10.
  • players can now play SH3 without the DVD in the drive.
  • the patched result can now be patched with H.sie (S3H), Stiebler(S3S), Tycho, Fader.
  • all SF-driver-files are removed from your system. The old tool 'sfdrvrem' is no longer needed!
  • all SF-registry-entries are removed from your system. The old tool ' sfdrvrem' is no longer needed!
If you want to apply the STARFORCE-FiX to a DVD-version of SH3 please make sure that you
  • close and exit all parts of SH3. Also close all its folders and open files!
  • Once again: Make sure NO file or folder of SH3 is opened in Windows!
  • provide a valid installation-path → That is the path of the installation you want to apply this fix to
(SFSF tries to find what you have by attempting to read the Windows-Registry and displays that as default)
Note: The destination-path is only needed for the STEAM-FiX, because it moves a STEAM-SH3-installation "out of Steam's access"
and out of the UAC-controlled directories that many players apparently cannot stop installing to.
Verify once more...and GO!

[STEAM-FiX]
"STEAM-FIX - why it is necessary, what it does and how to use it =": show

STEAM

The information that you are reading just now replaces all earlier threads which come up when you search...This tool called module SFSF() replaces all earlier tools such as...
  • the SteamMover. SteamMover only moves the files, SFSF does much more, specifically for SH3!
  • the StarForce Removal Tool. That tool only removes the SF-drivers, SFSF does much more, specifically for SH3!
The socalled STEAM-SH3-version has its flaws, but certainly its PROs, too, which I am trying to summarize briefly here:

 PRO:
  • very cheap, I saw it for 2,49 one day!
  • easy to install
  • it is already updated to V1.4b, you do NOT need to run any Ubisoft-patches
  • works with every Windows-version out of the box - but! only! stock!
  • you can circumvent all the CONs by use of parallel installs and only or add mods to those backups after running the STEAM-FiX.
Once more: If you are using a STEAM-SH3-VERSION, you do NOT need to update that one, it is already up to date.
Ignore the b/s that the SuSi-guys are talking, you need NOT verify your STEAM-SH3-version! It needs no V1.4b patch anymore!
What you must do though is make a couple of adjustments - or simply run the STEAM-Fix, that does all that automatically for you.
After using the STEAM-Fix, you can install any mods easily and without conflict.

 CON:
  • STEAM does not allow modifications of the SH3.exe (H.sie (S3H), Stiebler(S3S), Tycho, Fader - all not possible).
SOLUTION: MOVE SH3 OUT OF STEAM'S REACH! USE SFSF!
  • STEAM games are installed to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common,
i.e. you will run into problems with patches such as S3H, S3S etc.
SOLUTION: MOVE SH3 OUT OF STEAM'S REACH! USE SFSF!
  • you are tied to STEAM's DRM and STEAM must be running in the background when you play.
SOLUTION: MOVE SH3 OUT OF STEAM'S REACH! USE SFSF!
  • Known issues with STEAM and GWX installer: You will get an install error when installing GWX using the STEAM version of
SH3. The GWX installer is looking for SH3.exe. STEAM has renamed that file to something that is not the default.
Consequently the GWX-installer does not find what it seeks and then throws a cryptic and confusing error message
(It is, Jeff Groves, you have failed there!).
SOLUTION: MOVE SH3 OUT OF STEAM'S REACH! USE SFSF! Then simply point the installer there.

 SOLUTIONS/WORKAROUNDS:
  • Do NOT run SH3 using STEAM-Launcher again! NEVER! Use the best Multi-SH3-launcher: S3F!
  • By all means change the installation-path to something OUTSIDE C:\Program Files (x86) as it brings up UAC-issues that you do not want.
  • By all means always setup your mods OUTSIDE Steam's folders. THIS IS MANDATORY!
SOLUTION: MOVE SH3 OUT OF STEAM'S REACH! USE SFSF!

Why is such a fix for STEAM-SH3 necessary at all?
Modders have fixed most/all the issues and created a useful/fun game. None of these patches can be applied to the STEAM-SH3-version since the modders had to actually modify the .exe files to get the game to work properly. STEAM's DRM often packages the .exe files up and decodes them when you launch, preventing patches from modifying the .exe. In other words: All these patches fix bugs made by the game-developers by directly patching the EXE, and you can't use such as long as you leave the control to STEAM launcher. Modding the STEAM-SH3-version was abandoned some time ago. So they thought. Nowadays STEAM-SH3 is run using a launcher, the STEAM-launcher, which verifies what STEAM thinks to be "integrity" of files. The STEAM-Fix solves this. And SFSF does much more to help you...

If you want to be able to run all mods and patches out there with Steam's SH3, you must apply the Steam-Fix. If you neglect do that you will have the constantly recurring issues that regularly (almost on a weekly basis) appear in the discussions, following a few examples:

- GWX cannot be installed. Says it finds modded files.
- Game crashes on load at 95%.
- CrashToDesktop
- LSH3 install problem! [no valid SH3.exe]
- Application Load Error
- Black Screen after intro movie
and so on and so on.

The STEAM-Fix in the SFSF-package solves all of those problems!

SFSF lets you apply the AUTOMATED STEAM-FiX:
  • the patched result can now be patched with H.sie (S3H), Stiebler(S3S), Tycho, Fader.
  • players can now "mod & patch" their STEAM-SH3 to their liking and it will work.
  • moves the selected SH3-installation where you choose, BUT out of
    • Programs (X86)
    • STEAM's directories
If you want to apply the STEAM-FiX please make sure that you
  • close and exit all parts of STEAM (and its launcher!) and also all parts of SH3. Also close all their folders!
  • Once again: Make sure NO file or folder of SH3 is opened in Windows!
  • provide a valid installation-path → That is the path of the installation you want to apply this fix to
(SFSF tries to find what you have by attempting to read the Windows-Registry and displays that as default)
  • provide a valid destination-path on the same partition (C: stays C:) → That is where the "STEAM-SH3-installation" is going to be moved to
→ once again: CHANGE the default installation-path so you do NOT install to anywhere in the default path "Program Files (x86)".
Guide to a custom path that is NOT controlled by Windows/UAC, for example C:\SH3-stock or D:\games\SH3\stock or alike.
→ once again: out of STEAM's reach, out of WIN/UAC's reach, but on the same harddrive partitition, cannot be so hard to do!
Verify once more...and GO!
From this moment you can mod and patch all parts of the game without the Steam Launcher attempting to 'repair' what you want changed.

Short Instructions
[DOWNLOAD & INSTALL:]
  • Download the latest version.
  • Unpack using 7-Zip to
    - ANYWHERE OUTSIDE your SH3-game-folder and neither in its sub-folders!
    - ANYWHERE OUTSIDE areas that Windows controls with its 'UAC'!
Simply overwrite existing files, if you are upgrading to a newer version!
  • Run the S3F.exe-file - AS ADMINISTRATOR
  • Allow it through your security-software (Defender? Avast? Norton? AVG? Firewall?). :))
  • Inspect your U-Boot means "let S3F scan your system." That takes time. Be patient. Simply let it run!
  • S3F will then display a list of all found SH3-installations and SH3-tools that you can use (=everything it has found).
  • Select one of your installed SH3-installations.
  • Click on one of the program-icons below to run THAT program with THAT SH3-installation.
You figure the idea and how easy it is?  Enjoy...  :Thumb up:

Ah yes and as for the question "Why no installer?"
I share the opinion of Oleh Yuschuk, the programmer of Ollydbg: "No installation means also no trash in registry and system directories."
So yes, it runs right out of the box and from almost anywhere (as said above!).

(:))) IMPORTANT is that you deactivate your Anti-Virus-Software for the moment when running it, so set to OFF or IGNORE. Otherwise you will run into problems: Your free or cheap AntiVirus-Software (AVAST! AVG! All that!) will hoax you into thinking S3F is a trojan. Reason: To accomplish the process of patching, we need to directly write into the target SH3.EXE. Consequently, patches are changes to the actual code of an executable file, so AntiVirus-Kits will be irritated and 'think' there is a trojan running, while it is not. So there is no way around this step. It must be done.

Screenshots:

   New Intro

New Main Menu vs Old Main Menu

Icon-Descriptions (new main menu):

As previously mentioned, the icons that S3F offers are dynamically displayed dependent of what you have installed on your system, your "U-Boot". These icons appear in the lower area of the S3F-window and the sub-menus. Everything that is functional on your U-Boot is shown as AVAILABLE AND "COLORED", unavailable items are "SEPIA"'ed.

"PATCH&FIX": show

The sub-menu PATCH&FIX runs the routines that check the version and display further file-information of the previously selected installation of SH3 and allow you to execute a variety of patches - and more are yet to come... Important to notice is that it is nonsense to 4GB-Patch an existing SH3.exe on a NON-64bit-Windows-System. All information given in this direction, be it even from your favorite modder, is WRONG. Read on ntcore's page why - because he was the one who had this idea. This is why this option is activated only when S3F is run on a 64bit-system. Read more about S3H in S3H = V1.6B1.
"SETTiNGS": show

In SETTiNGS you find configuration tools, some for the patches in the menu before.
  • If you have SetKeys installed and verified as valid, you can select any installation of the list and run SetKeys for that installation. S3F automatically detects your language and starts SetKeys with the corresponding language-file of that installation.
  • Keymapper is now also found, verified and offered.
  • Select the installation that you want to run this routine with and then you can make a copy of that very installation and have it installed so that the "MultiSH3"-functions are applied, i.e. that your "My Documents\SH3"-path is changed from SH3 to whatever you like - it only has to be a THREE-DIGIT-long combination of chars/numbers, i.e. GWX, NYG, LSH, 123, 999,...
  • New and in test/debug-mode (not visible in the public-release-versions) is the configuration-tool for S3H, S3S and soon more, "BOS II" - the BL!TZKR!EG-options-selector
"MODS": show

The MODS-menu allows you to run various scanned and found versions of S3C now. If found installed on your system and validated as correct version, you can click on this icon to view, change, load, save the mod-setup for the previously selected mega-mod. You can pick either
  • UPDATE JSGME (download it, install it and write its directory to S3F.ini
  • run JSGME for selected installation (use installpath from S3F.ini)
  • run JSGME with installpath+"Sh3 Commander", IF FOUND, if not found, this icon/option is greyed out.
Some mods have IN THEIR INSTALLATION PATH their own S3C, e.g. c:\SH3-GWR\SH3 Commander. I do not see the reason why modders like Anvar provide S3C as a mod. I find this b/s, but I can not stop them. S3F can now use that (mostly crippled) S3C, too IF THAT INSTALLATION IS FOUND. Otherwise, as mentioned, this icon/option is greyed out.
  • run JSGMEMV
"S3C": show

The S3C-menu offers you to run a variety of operations in conjunction with the selected installation.
COLORED icons indicate that option is available, SEPIA-icons indicate unavaible functions.
After it auto-configures %installpath% for S3C, it enforces its roll-back-routine and then lets you choose either
  • to run S3C with the path in S3F.ini.
  • to run JSGME for S3C with the path in S3F.ini.
  • to run S3C in the folder "Sh3 Commander" INSIDE the selected installation.
  • to run JSGME for S3C  in the folder "Sh3 Commander" INSIDE the selected installation.
"SH3": show

SH3
This is self-explanatory as in fact most of the project. Here you simply run the installation that you have just selected.
Forthcoming versions will first display a menu and then let you pick either
  • run SH3.exe "as is"
  • run SH3.exe through S3C with the path in S3F.ini, IF FOUND, if not found, the icon is greyed out.
  • run SH3.exe through S3C with installpath$+"Sh3 Commander", IF FOUND, if not found, the icon is greyed out.
"MISSIONS": show

has become an external project, because it became so big itself. [S3MT] - The Silent Hunter III-Mission Toolkit
"CONNECT": show

- Connect&Play With The World

TS3......Jitsi
L_NO SKYPE! Warning
L_NO HAMACHI/LAN ON INTERNET, comparison-display
"RESCAN": show

The RESCAN-function lets you delete S3F.ini and run a fresh scan. Same as running S3F with /newscan

Installation of Multiple Versions of SH3
For the installation of multiple versions of SH3

SO FAR AND UNTIL NOW...
...you had to...
1) complete a fresh install of SH3 patched up to V1.4b.
2) create a copy of the program folder & rename as required.
3) use MultiSH3 to create separate save locations for each install.

BUT FROM NOW ON...
You simply execute the S3M-functionality on the previously selected installation
and the job will be carried out and you can use that new installation as you want right away: 1) IF YOU CHOOSE TO DO SO, the whole selected installation will be copied to where you want (stay out of folders like Programs\X86 though). If the selected installation contains MODS these are as well included in the copy, no matter if they are active or deactivated. You make a 100% copy of that selected installation, no matter how "tuned" it is.
2) The MultiSH3-functionality will automatically be executed and applied to that new copy or the installation that you selected.

S3F allows you to easily have a multiple installation of SH3 on your system, for instance:
1. stock 1.4b for standard and Multiplayer Gaming on DEFLAN
2. NYGM for a realistic play and some horror-scenario-features
3. GWX for a campaign
4. GWM for Multiplayer Gaming on DEFLAN
5. CCoM for eye-candy
6. LSH for even more eye-candy

In this example stock 1.4b would be the basis for everything and the mods on top of it. Use S3F to make the copies and have them activated (that used to be a MultiSH3-function as explained above). In this case GWX is also the basis for GWM (which is a "tuned" version of GWX).

Multiple Installs with SH3 Commander
For SH3 Commander with Multiple Installs

Until and including the S3F-C0R0N0iA-Edition you could use ONE installed S3C on ALL/ANY SH3-installations that you have on your harddisc.
Before that it was recommended to use the l: switch to point S3C to the right installation which JSCONES eventually removed.

After the S3F-C0R0N0iA-Edition this is no longer going to be supported by S3F. Instead S3F looks into %SH3-installation-path%\SH3 Commander and if there is one installed you can use THAT S3C for THAT SH3-installation, if you also install the specific mega-mod-supplement-files into that SH3-installation.

We will from now on support modders who make their mods S3C-compatible. Stay tuned!

Upcoming/NEW Features for next version(s)
Upcoming/NEW Features for next versions and/or V1.8.7.6b and/or later:

[TOTAL CODE INCLUDE of module_SFSF()]
+ much faster copy routine in module_S3M()
+ all new features activated for all to use and bug-fixes since the last version as can be read above
+ most outstanding feature: BOS II
+ the whole code for Stiebler's ingenious Addon V4C will be included
+ If H.sie's "O2-Fix" is enabled in the OptionsSelector, you can enable the Manometer-MOD and the correct graphics are injected into game-data.
If Hsie is deactivated=CO2 (Stock)
If Hsie is activated AND the flag activated=O2 (H.sie's new GFX), H.sie has missed to changed the dials.cfg and the 3D-textures\cadrane for every Uboot

--─────────────────────────────── ■  2do:  ■ ───────────────────────────────--
Now working to integrate the SFSF code into S3F.
+ improvements in the copy routine
+ new buttons + Tycho button
+ activation of the test tycho code (works fine since long)
+ new menus like this:
Now redoing the menu:

OLD LOOK (11)NEW LOOK (10)
S3G - read the Silent Hunter III-Guide
apply Ubisoft patch V1.4b
apply the STEAM-FiX
apply the STARFORCE-FiX
apply the 4GT-patch (automated 4GB Tuning)
apply the S3H-patch (automated H.sie)
apply the S3S-patch (automated Stiebler)
apply the S3T-patch (automated Tycho)
apply the S3FB-patch (automated Faderberg)
EXIT (return to menu)

I am now concentrating on these changes...

- added smarter and more elegant code that lets you choose which one you want to run (ME1/ME2)
- Added Icons (ME1/ME2) to MENU MISSIONS
- added smarter and more elegant code that lets you choose which one you want to run (HOS1.4/HOS1.6/BOS2)
- Added Icons (HOS1.4/HOS1.6/BOS2) to MENU SETTINGS

[I]
S3F will now write an entry [FRONT-END] that will list
Path2S3F=path+filename
Path2thisinstall=path

S3Q can use that data... hehe nice nice... :30_ani-smile: and lets you pick a career to work with.

Known Bugs

None. All reported bugs have been fixed. Thanks for your patience. :haken-klein:

If you want to report a bug...

First off, this software is
  • a non-profit fan-production, completely independent of UBiSOFT and unpaid/uncommercial hobby-work just for the fun of it.
  • brand-new and has been developed during the time of 7 weeks (first version, March/April 2014).
  • in beta-status, so there will or may be bugs. That is normal for a project with so little help.
  • under continous development, so bugs will get fixed.
PLEASE

 - please LOOK FIRST at page#1 of this thread and check that you DO follow the instructions provided.
 - please LOOK FIRST whether it really is a serious bug worth the hassle.
 - please LOOK FIRST whether it has been reported HERE already, not "maybe" on some idiot-SuSi-forum!
 - be constructive! Nobody wants to read disruptive/provocative comments like they allowed against me on SuSi. That does not help matters at all.
 - write down what exactly you have done until the error occured.
 - try to describe what actually happens. What is working and what is not.
 - make a screenshot so we see what you are talking about.

THANK YOU!

We will then see what we can do in order to solve the issue. It is ALWAYS BEST to talk on our TeamSpeak-Server.
We can even share the screen using ANYDESK or TEAMVIEWER to work things out.

= FAQ =

FAQ:

Q: "Why does S3F not recognize program x, I DO have it on my harddisc!"
A: This happens when you ignore to deploy the latest version as described here. For instance GWX3.0 Gold comes with an outdated JSGME version which you should update. S3F only recognizes the latest/current versions and ignores everything beyond. This is really old common knowledge. Use your brain and stop ignoring my crystal-clear instructions!
A: Also when I say: Put tool xyz there, then put it THERE and not somewhere else. Otherwise: no function. Easy as that.

Q: "Where can I talk to/meet with BL!TZKR!EG?"
A: You can regularly find me on DEFTS3, see our calendar, you are welcome to meet us when we meet - everyone is welcome, even non-DEF-members can attend our regular meetings!

Q: "When is the next version out?"
A: What? If you want to have me code faster, you should pay me more! Did you give ANYTHING at all?
So if you guys continue to throw 50 bucks to SuSi only to become an overlord-idiot, then stop asking me to code tools for free!

Q: "Always these JSGME-warnings when you must overwrite files. Can you program a fix to this?"
A: Short answer: no ----- Long answer: no, because JSGME does not recognize or offer an override in the sense of "auto yes to all". It simply does not allow the user to ignore file overwrite warnings. This is one of the shortcomings of JSGME, so we have to live with those "error"-messages, which are no error, but instead only let you know what is going on.

= Format of S3F.ini =
OK folks, we have a new format. If you are running a version BEFORE V1.7.9.74b, please delete 'S3F.ini' so you make a new scan.
This is how my 'S3F.ini' looks now with comments and explanations in color.

[Silent Hunter III-Front-End V1.7.9.74b [C0R0N0iA-EDiTi0N] by BL!TZKR!EG] << version identifier
21 << I run 21 parallel installations, listed below (*1)
D:\_SH3_\SilentHunterIII-14b\sh3.exe
D:\_SH3_\SilentHunterIII-24F\sh3.exe
D:\_SH3_\SilentHunterIII-CCoM\sh3.exe
D:\_SH3_\SilentHunterIII-FF2\sh3.exe
D:\_SH3_\SilentHunterIII-FSB\sh3.exe
D:\_SH3_\SilentHunterIII-GWM\sh3.exe
D:\_SH3_\SilentHunterIII-GWO\sh3.exe
D:\_SH3_\SilentHunterIII-GWR\sh3.exe
D:\_SH3_\SilentHunterIII-GWX3.0-Ducimus\sh3.exe
D:\_SH3_\SilentHunterIII-GWX\sh3.exe
D:\_SH3_\SilentHunterIII-LSH5.1\sh3.exe
D:\_SH3_\SilentHunterIII-LSH6\sh3.exe
D:\_SH3_\SilentHunterIII-MED\sh3.exe
D:\_SH3_\SilentHunterIII-NYGM\sh3.exe
D:\_SH3_\SilentHunterIII-RUB\sh3.exe
D:\_SH3_\SilentHunterIII-RUB_MP(fr)\sh3.exe
D:\_SH3_\SilentHunterIII-SEE\sh3.exe
D:\_SH3_\SilentHunterIII-UTW\sh3.exe
D:\_SH3_\SilentHunterIII-WAC4.2\sh3.exe
D:\_SH3_\SilentHunterIII-111_CTEST_1\sh3.exe
D:\_SH3_\SilentHunterIII-MOD\sh3.exe
D:\_SH3_\TOOLS\JSGME.exe << Path to JSGME.exe
D:\_SH3_\TOOLS\SH3 Commander\SH3Cmdr.exe << Path to SH3Cmdr.exe
D:\_SH3_\TOOLS\SetKeys.EXE << Path to SetKeys.exe

(*1) This value MUST NOT and UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES be zero. If it is, S3F can not function. Easy as that.

A later version may include two more options, but I have not decided on that yet:
installations=1; already exists
intro=1; 1= show intro, 0= skip intro
music=1; 1= play music(and sound), 0= stay totally quiet
language=0; unnecessary because I am going to remove language support anyway

= DOWNLOAD CURRENT VERSION =

This tool is released 'as is' which means it is under development and subject to further improvements. It is distributed FOR FREE and it is not known to cause any issues. If anyone claims so and brings no evidence or attempts to choke off any constructive discussion or forces you to donate or register in order to be able to download it, that person is not only false, you should make a screenshot and contact the author!

This software is completely FREE, does not need to be "installed", instead it is functional out of the box. No other - unnecessary or unwanted - software is needed, downloaded or installed in addition. To ensure you have the latest version at hand it must be able to connect to our server. It will automatically inform you if a newer version is available. You, the user, must therefore allow it through your firewall/antivirus/other security software.
