Thesis:

In my efforts to help an old friend with his mod I stumbled across irritating facts that have apparently never been thoroughly revised in SH3's existence.

I then programmed a tool that brought overview into this, because I felt the need to update "Doenitz Elite Flotilla - [S3O] - Operation Spinnennetz (auto-updated WORLD-MAPS)" as well. There we continued on the basis of Canovaro's data which currently shows this overview:

Besides the unmodded vanillla-version (="Stock 1.4b") this thread covers the major mega-mods of SH3 (use the provided quick-links!):
  • GWX3 (=GWX 3.0 GOLD) - INGAME DATA - HELP
  • WAC4 (=WAC 4.1) - INGAME DATA - HELP
  • GWX4 (=GWX RUS REWORKED) - INGAME DATA - HELP
  • NYGM (=NYGM 3.7F/2017) - INGAME - HELP
  • LSH3V6 (=LSH3 Edition 2015) - INGAME DATA - HELP
  • CCoM (=CCoM 11.1) - INGAME - HELP
The goal is to have HISTORICALLY ACCURATE data in the GUI and the game-data. The output of my tool does not only show the ingame-LON/LAT-values, it includes for the first time a converted data of the KMPQ (="KriegsMarine PlanQuadrat", which matches S3O) in the syntax.PQ= PQ1234, i.e. not only four but 6 (!) digits, for instance BF7961.

I have begun with the details and will walk all the way through my list of Mega-Mods.

Collected conclusions:

The sorting is important. It must NOT (!) be sorted by date. Always "place before time"...Because: How do you play?

You first look WHERE you now are, then you look WHAT DATE it is and then you look where you can go.
Everything else might look good or be historical accurate - but just not usable for players

It is a big pity that Susi's administration has never considered an area to discuss topics that apply for all games simulating GERMAN U-Boote, otherwise modders could have much more cooperated.

And the following posts by gap would not have gone missed - I took his texts and added:

  • Pictures (some were missing and we use them on S3O, too) - DONE.
  • KMPQ from the LON/LAT coordinates - coming

This is how "Stock 1.4b" (i.e. the unmodified game) handles it:

 [ ] Marine-Versorger available.
  [ ] Milchkuh-U-Boote available.
[ ] Dock to them to replenish fuel and ammo

WAC 4.1 -AND!- WAC 5b1 show identical results, I thought the release-version 5.0 would be different, because it should be fully compatible with OPERATION SPINNENNETZ (S3O), but well...

 LND!

and SCR:

This list makes not much sense since it is too vague - where would be "Nord-West Atlantik"? That tells you nothing as to WHERE ACTUALLY to go to. You cannot just go to "Nord-West-Atlantik" because you will never find the boat with such poor destination-data.

[X] Marine-Versorger available.
  [X] Milchkuh-U-Boote available.
[X] You can dock to them to replenish fuel and ammo.

This is the more complex data of LSH3V6

good tga as dragsheet, BUT
 sorted per date
 only KMPQ/4dg
sometimes KMPQ missing, then useless because way too vague

U-Boot refitting at sea
Part I: German tankers interned in Spanish ports

Even though neutrality regulations prohibited merchant ships interned in neutral ports to refit war ships or U-Boote, with connivance of the Spanish authorities some ships secretly refuelled and provided U-Boot with provisions. These refittings usually took place at night, when the risk of being caught was smaller, and they were abondoned by late 41- early 42, when the commissioning of the new type XIV Milchkuh U-Boote rendered the use of surface vessels for U-Boot refitting needless.

The list of the interned German tankers and U-Boot that refuelled from  them follows below.
