All of my tools are FREE FOR EVERYONE and AVAILABLE WITHOUT ENFORCED REGISTRATION.
I do not have SH3 from STEAM, but still I am willing to help rather than only talk hot air or do some
bloody "welcome, welcome, donate here please" doodle, but leave users out in the rain, if only they donate...

All I ask is to stop donating to those who delete my work and only seem to collect money for their new motor bike/ranch/mower.
Think about it! STOP DONATING TO SUCH SABOTEURS! Rather donate to those who actually DO the work to facilitate players.

Hello fellow U-Boot Kaleun,

on the occasion of S3F's second anniversary and the fourth anniversary of |DEF|, I invited everyone interested to another new project that integrates the efforts of the following already existing tools and addons for SH3. It is really true: An 10+ year-old-game is taken to another level. That was 01/2016.
 
Following were a brief description, a change-log, a number of explanations what the tools in question already did accompanied with screenshots so that everybody could have a quick overview.

The idea of this thread was back then and still is this...

What if a player could choose one of his multiple installations using the dynamic menu that S3F provides (#see here),
configure that to his taste, then play it and then...
+ see his reported U-Boot-position on a world-map using Operation Spinnennetz (#see here)
+ see his reported contacts and the see other U-Boote there as well
+ send and receive TRUE radio-stuff using Radio-Traffic-Exchange (#see here)
+ have his Kriegstagebuch (KTB) done with S3C (#see here)
+ have his results reported to a result-server as with Kampfbericht (:evil1:)
+ have his results accounted like in a flotilla-Point-Table.
 
And then his forthcoming career is altered dynamically with S3DC (:evil1:) and the very next patrol is started with the fixes and options provided with S3P (:evil1:).
 
What would this be?
IMMERSION & FUN !    And would that not be REALLY SOPHISTICATED?
 
I have been told by incoming feedback that this is UNIQUE for SH3 and no other simulation and no other flotilla or clan has ever offered so much. Not even remotely. "So enjoy this old game, there is still plenty of life in that old dog!" I said. And then we evacuated to our own forum here. I have been updating it further as we progressed, so we were a bit flabbergasted to see that the entire threads (:evil1:) including all their posts were deleted by the notorious SNOT-gang. But nothing is lost, we had already evacuated it all long ahead, foreseeingly that would happen one day.

  • "Real Players' Radio Traffic" - can send/receive public messages. Compatible with Dynamic campaign.
  • "Captains' Forum Toolkit" - can generate forum messages from SAVEGAME-information  and optionally writes them to your personal messages file. Can also turn a BdU forum posting into an in-game message.
  • "Flotilla-members' Toolkit" - with a name and password, members of a flotilla can send and receive messages (optionally to their personal message file) to and from their flotilla. Scoretable. Compatible with Dynamic campaign.
  • "BdU Toolkit" - allows a flotilla-admin to manage members, boats, tonnage and so on, send BdU messages to flotilla-members, view flotilla-members' messages, track flotilla locations, view the 'war-diary' and so on. Unfortunately incompatible with S3O's worldmap.

I read the LON/LAT-values from the SH3-files, then did the calculations that LGN proposed.
In fact I found the same formula in our old flotilla, see quote below! SH3 world coordinates are longitude and latitude in decimal degrees multiplied by 2000 meters. The rest is lookup-tables where I had help with by members of TBT.

 That embolded Pt0 is where my location was reported to the game at my last save. (I've boldened it for visibility sake)
 
 Now, all you have to do is divide each of those numbers by 120,000 (it's the games constant) i.e.
 
 The Longitude is first:
 -1750881.94 / 120000 = -14.5907 (.5907 x 60 = 35.4') The minus sign indicates West Long and South Lat.
 4974581.33 /120000 = 41.4548 (.4548 x 60 = 27.3)
 Put it all together: 41° 27.3'N, 14° 35.4'W
 
 This is my last known position at my last save. So, whenever you do a save during a game the data will be stored for your enjoyment. There are 12 waypoints in my game to get to my patrol area and do a search pattern at the end. Thats why so many waypoints.

 You'll need two stand-alone apps/programs:
 Python and Stellarium (both freeware)
 
 The Python program is written to enter the SH3 file in "My Documents" and extract your current geo coords as the game see them and updates the Stellarium program for date/time, correct Lat and Long of your boats position.
 
 You, as a player, can then enter Stellarium and obtain instantaneous celestial ephemeris Azimuth and Altitude of every celestial body for any date your game is on. You can later do a sight reduction and precisely chart your position just like real navigators. Caveat: It's very time consuming and a bit tedious for some. Being a navigator is not for everyone; but, everyone can do it.
 
 More info can be obtained by searching the archives for Celestial Navigation.
 Cheers, One final note on the quote:  Before retirement, Celestial Navigation was an obsession, since retirement, just a hobby.
 
 Oh, and btw, that Pt0 indicates that I'm running free now, off the drawn waypoint course line on the chart in the game chasing a convoy without the aid of a waypoint. I have to keep slapping the helmsman to keep him  on course....what a drifter :\
 
 Remember: BOSS is double SOB spelled backwards.

... S3Q_DAPP = DEF-APPLICATOR lets you enter everything necessary to become a new member or update your data so you can pick a new U-Boot.

... S3Q_QRPC = Quick-Report-Post-Creator lets you put your message into a proper and orderly format for your Kommandant-thread (and some other surprise I will tell you guys later). The message body below the "hard facts" is the message you are communicating to BdU, example: Requesting orders. You can enter that as free text on the right hand side. Then you simply copy all contents from the right window and paste that into your Kommandant-thread. Self-explanatory.

... S3Q_QPFR = Quick-Personnel-File-Reporter is to be used for every "end-of-patrol"-report. You run S3C, let it create your personnel file and then you execute this module, point it to that PERSONNEL_FILE.html created by S3C, so its contents are summarized and sent to our DEF-scores-server (includes details link sunk ships, tonnage, the awards you received etc.). This is the data our server generates our tonnage tables (aka point table) from and where our signature-tool writes your badges onto your signature. Very important.

... S3Q_QMPR = Quick-MultiPlayer-Reporter is to be used for every MultiPlayer/Wolfpack="Wolfsrudel"-report and submits your results-screenshot to our DEF-scores-server after it lets you enter/amend the results for each user. You are also asked to submit screenshots of the result and one optional. At the end it auto-creates BBCode that you can easily copy and paste to our forum and have a result table posted. ... S3Q_QFKM = Quick-FunKMaat is to be used by our FkMt/E primarily, but also anyone who enjoys decyphering for the fun of it. Basically it is for reporting in decyphered ENiGMA-messages (a message can be pasted into the report window). It creates and submits a short summary-file including stuff like U-Boot-number, the decyphered message, the key that has been used to successfully decypher, so that the first member to submit this gets the bonus-points and all others can directly access the key for faster decoding. Very practical.

... S3Q_QTMR = Quick-TeamspeakMeetingReport is currently N/A. In the process of more and more rewarding positive activity as in "PBP" this module is going to be used by a selected member who is present on the "Wednesday-meeting", simply to report who was there so the software can reward it by extra PBP that will take immediate effect on your results seen in our point-table.

- 20160129 - NEW - Created this thread and described the basic idea - initially on SuSi, later evacuated to here because they began deleting our stuff.
- 20160223 - NEW - Published a very first screenshot of S3Q (of V0.1a).
- 20160224 - NEW - Published details on what S3Q does so far (=completed code): S3Q...
  • is soon/some day called from S3F, so it gets the path of the selected SH3-installation (multish3-capable!)
  • from there it reads the FM.DLL to address the campaign-data as the upcoming S3F-version does (same code).
  • it lets the user select which of his campaigns PERTAINING to the just selected SH3-installation he wishes to report on
  • it reads from there (and lets the user change):
  • Kommandant
  • U-Boot + Typ
  • KMPQ in 6dg as DEF uses it
  • It then continues with the requests necessary to send to the S3O-Server hosted at DEF, i.e. current course etc.
  • Then the above menu lets the user make 3 different reports:
  • WEATHER-report
  • STATUS-report
  • CONTACT-report
  • When choosing, certain dependencies are checked.
  • After selecting all the user wishes, the report is written to disk
    and text-boxes give the opportunity to change texts

S3Q now includes the former external modules: S3Q_DAPP and S3Q_DEFO. No extra download necessary anymore.
Their code is completely included, extra startup-executables can call the module for direct execution.

1. S3O is automatically being patched to V3.14 upon execution of S3Q.exe. S3O itself is still basing on S3OC, the old Canovaro-client. HOWEVER, in the long-run this old client is going to cease operations. The new code is already included and the new client will be S3Q with all its modules (read below) and S3O will remain the name of the ONLINE-part of the project.
2. S3Q is now going to integrate more and more with S3C. The problem was that JSCONES was in no way responsive and did not remotely consider to support in this regard. On the contrary. But that aside and put into the past, more of our tools will be merged into S3Q, so there is in the end ONE tool for all flotilla-related communications, in other words: This means that the number of tools is going to be furtherly reduced by integrating all of them into one file with one menu and have it integrated with S3C and S3F. New is also that all DEFCON OPERATIONS which were part of old DEFO are now automatically executed.
3. S3Q connects to our forum and display parts of the forum data now.

    Following, a list of members of that group is displayed.
    There now, you can select whom to track with simple Windows-checkboxes.
    This function derives from the time we (Nockend and I) tracked Swanny when he claimed he would not be online - and we found him under another name on StS-TS3.
