Just done in WORD with some of Blitz' images and then converted to PDF using DeskPDF -- a third-party PDF converter that integrates with WORD.

Why? for the comradery, education, and feeling of being part of the war. In a Flotilla, you just don't sail around. You experience the war, not play it. The fun part of it, has to be being able to talk with others in a way that other people don't understand. Talking about U-Boote, missions, and equipment is a joy to me, and I do have friends here in the states that do not shre, nor care about my interest in U-Boote. I get to learn so much about them being here in teh DEF.

Well before I was in a Flotilla, I would eventually always gave up playing. I found the Patrols to become meaningless.
I find the missions, although not in "sinc" with each other, in a Flotilla better. Here I have a feeling that I belong to something bigger that the Sim itself. Now I have a real BdU Kommand that gives orders and I play them out to the end. I actually can't wait for the next orders to be given.
Although Flotilla life is still some what lonely when compaired to a flight Sim squad, it gives me a feeling of belonging to a group of other like minded players who enjoy the hunting and sinking of virtual tonnage. And to be honest its not toooo demanding to put in 2-3hrs a week into the Flotilla life.

Finished by audio book version of Philip Kaplan's Grey Wolves. Overall it was a good book to begin researching the Ubootwaffe. It goes back to the WW1 days and the sinking of the Lusitania which was some interesting back story. I enjoyed the chapters that explained how Doenitz managed the patrols, the routine of the crew and how the allied campaign began to close the advantages of the U-Boote. What I did not care for was a few chapters going into great detail about Allied patrols. I felt the time could have spent telling the stories of U-Boot crews on patrol or even before they went.
That being said, it was worth a listen. I would recommend the book to any newer U-Boot enthusiast. Now, onto Iron Coffins and Das Boot!

I am trying to help Blitz because I can also see that most members have delayed this matter almost endlessly - to an incredible extent that the whole matter must be rushed now.
Some members like bstanko or KingOfNothing22 should really ask themselves if their snail speed is really Elite or why they never bother about anything that is discussed on the forum. I can totally agree and see why Blitz is so angry. The WAC-desaster, lame slowpokes here and only 40% of the members actually do something to help out - the rest does somehow not even consider to take part in the forum...

I have nothing against it. But when I brought this up on tonight's TS3-session it turned out that nocken seems to be "aggressively-adversed" to trying it.
My opinion is that we should recommend this tool for the reasons that AK mentioned.
Very nice story! And so beautiful pictures again! Do you use PShop or anything like that? Looks fantastic!
Nothing special -- I just use "Microsoft Office Picture Manager" to auto correct the brightness, contrast and sometimes to crop the image; and use "ImageBatch" to resize to 800 pixel width and convert from BMP to JPG. That's it.

Just as we spoke yesterday I have the idea to merge your idea with mine, in fact we could even share the same GFX to make it look "corporate".
I had already begun last year to collect icons and alike for DEFF, our DEF-Forum. If we can also use them for our TS3, that would save time.
Let me quickly merge what I had collected so far...
First off, you may need to change your PNG icon to a GIF -- you can do this with Paint.Net
Go to website admin Under "FORUM", select "Smileys and Message Icons" Select "Add Smiley" -- Select "Upload New Smiley" radio button -- Select the "Browse" button and select icon from your computer -- Check "Same image for all sets" -- this will add it to all smiley sets you currently have on file with website -- Give it a code, like "()" -- Give it a description, like "scope" -- Leave Location as "Post form" -- Press "Save Changes" button
OKAY. Your instructions missed to tell me that I need to switch on "Enable customized smileys (otherwise, the default smileys will be used.)" - which is why I could not see that option "add smiley"
File conversion - and that is the joke - does not seem to be necessary for the message icons I have added a number of new icons by just renaming (!) the .png files to .gif and as you can see it works.
Now I will go for the smileys...

It did initially, but not any more. Paths are all correct. I also make sure that I run MultiSH3 and set the appropriate three letter path.
My vanilla SH3 runs ok and I can create and run a career without issue. That leads me to believe SH3 Commander has corrupted something somewhere with each install. I guess the best course of action would be to remove the different modded SH3 installs and start over with S3F, using a single SH3 Commander.
Can you think of any other recourse?

Edited to add: I can also run WAC 4.1 without SH3 Commander. Never got it to work with SH3 Cdr. So, only those that have SH3 Cdr associated are having the issue/corruption.

I think I will try going with a solo install of SH Commander and renaming the root install folder. Do you still use the individual 3 letter folders for the different installs?
Not sure what you mean by "3 letter folders"?!
When I do a new install, I always start in a folder named "SilentHunterIII". For example, when I installed GWX, I started with a clean "SH3 version 1.4b" in "../Ubisoft/SilentHunerIII". I then install GWX over this clean SH3. When done, I checked that it starts up properly. Then I renamed the folder "SilentHunterIII - GWX Clean". I ALWAYS do installs in the "SilentHunterIII" directory and then rename them to save them off. When I want to use one of these versions, I rename it's folder to "SilentHunterIII" and run it. When done using it, I rename the folder back to whatever name I gave it; select another version and name that folder "SilentHunterIII". So as far as the SH3 Commander and JSGME shortcuts on my desktop are concerned, they always point to the "SilentHunterIII" folder.
Guess I should mention that I also have a "Original 1.4b SH3 Cracked" directory, which is a clean SH3. I never touch this directory -- it's kind of my MASTER copy of SH3. Instead, when I need a clean SH3 to upgrade with some SuperMod, I make a copy of this directory and name it "SilentHunterIII" - then do my installs on that. Bottom line is whenever I am doing installs or running some version of SH3, it is always from the "SilentHunterIII" directory. That way, the Windows directory never gets hosed.

3 Letter folders are the personnel folders in the users \my documents\ such as SH3 for default, and whatever user determines to name the others, such as GWX, NYG, GWM, etc. where you would use Multi SH3 to set the proper folder for the relevant supermod (eg id in Multi SH3 set your folder = GWX when you run your SH3 GWX with mods. Sorry I wasn't more specific.
From looking over your procedures, I would think you have only the \my documents\SH3 folder in use, but I could be wrong.
Also, do you install the specific Mod related SH3 Commander files for GWX and NYGM by using JSGME within the \SH3 Commander folder, when using a single SH3 Commander to prevent those files from conflicting/overwriting one another?

Yes, I have only one folder called SH3 for both Original SH3 and GWX. That said, BLITZ says that "GWX" has it own folder -- says it's a mod he made to the GWX 3.0 Gold software, but I have an original copy of GWX 3.0 Gold and it uses the "SH3" directory -- so I don't think BLITZKRIEG's mod is part of the official GWX release.
That said, I think one SuperMod version does create it's own directory called "V15" -- don't remember if it's NYGM or LSH3.
Yes, I have applied the GWX mods to SH3 Commander.

Let S3F run to have a scan of your SH3-files. It will tell if you have forgotten to apply the 4GB-Tuning.
Other than that I suspect your basis-installation (SH3 V1.4b) is incorrect or somehow broken. Have you followed the installation instruction provided in S3G?

Update - I managed to get a new vanilla SH3 from DVD, SF removed, NO CD and 4gb mods installed. Installed GWX 3.0 Gold, several mods minus the MFM improved and St.Naz et al mods. Was able to restart my career with SH Commander. Started the patrol, saved 4 times so far enroute to PZ. Worked well thus far. Going to see how things go loading saved game.

I wish all our Kommandanten be in best shape, crews freshly showered and the U-Boote polished!
Effectively nobody. I cannot do it. Borgneface seems lost - once again and the others do not want to do it as it appears to me.

I have casted a roll call 1-2 days ago and asked who can do it but received not one reply back...
And? Still nothing?

Oh, but yes! We've got something in the pipe-line and also some new members already.
It only took a while - and yet again a lot of my patience:
We just had to overcome another "dead-weight"-period (almost exactly as every year when summer ended), where I heard back only dumb excuses (that is IF AT ALL as it is plain to see who tried to avoid a talk) and people tried hiding behind "wife", "phone-calls", being "unavailable" or busy with "personal issues" left me wait and hanging and then suddenly I usually saw them elsewhere engaged.
That always feels a bit like "Why don't you say that into my face, we just spoke online yesterday", but nevermind. Them just got no manners. As has not a certain UK-ex-member, I asked him to send me a copy of what he sent to Susi-owner, which he didn't. Also - what I did not know yet - he has received an answer, but also "avoided" to pass that on to me, as I now know, but he had the guts to pass that answer around to other members. Well then I ask myself why that guy always emphasizes how much he "loves me to pieces" and when it becomes crucial, he backstabbs me in the described way?
So officially I do not know nothing and received nothing, because a handful guys act as if they want to destruct the flotilla with the assistance of Susi-moderators.
But we shall prevail - as we have done every year ;)

Hi there everyone in the whole forum!
It's me, The Grey Eminence! Blitz has asked me to introduce myself a little:
Blitz and I know us for ages, and we have been coding programs together since more than 20 years. We have first met at TheParty in 1993 if I remember correctly. He was wearing his world-famous "cow-trousers" and was advertising their record-label and that wicked blue light immediately caught my attention.
We then formed a team and churned out tools and files and ran his BBS together till we, such is life, somehow lost touch somewhen after 2000, we the only thing I heard of him was that he almost died on one of his expeditions in South America.
I am very glad that we are in touch again after so many years! And even though I am not an U-Boot-enthusiast as he is, I like to see what you guys have here! Pretty unique!
I am a programmer and into system analytics and will from now help Blitz here.

it took me some time to sort things out - you really posted this everywhere (on Susi you would have already been red-carded for spamming).
And you posted download-links to a pirated copy of SH4 !!! You cannot do that, Alex !!! (on Susi you would have already been red-carded plus brigged, I only asked you if you are nuts or want to bring DEF into trouble)
Nevertheless we have then given this idea some thought (it's not like on Susi-whiners-club, where they leave you hanging waiting endlessly and then you do not even get the common courtesy of any reaction at all) and these are the reasons why we deny that request:
We are dedicated to quality and continuity plus an immersive, accurate and historic feeling We can not see that in this petition. It looks rather like a quick idea which will not last for long.
We have just taken the big leap and left Tunngle after running and supporting there for almost a decade. We shall not move once again (Tunngle > Evolve > Discord) just because somebody brings up a quick idea.
Creating a Discord-group in addition to our current efforts makes no sense because it will just separate/splinter or prevent our current MP w/ Evolve from growing.
It is also totally unclear who these people are and we shall therefore not give our name for such experiment. Those guys have not even bothered to join DEF, so why should we go at risk and support those who do not follow our rules?
Alx, you yourself have not played once with us and it would really help if you did. Looking at the videos, it appears those unknown players are ARCADE-SHOOTERS and that is outright not our style of playing.
They not only go at it ARCADE-style, they play U-Boote that have not even seen active service such as the XVIII. We continue to concentrate on an immersive, accurate and historic feeling.
While everything brought up by the SuSi-whiners against DEF is proved wrong already, the posting of pirate links can pose a VALID reason to attack DEF. We have already taken enough time to defend against injust actions that turned out to be pure vindictiveness by 'SNOT and his clique' and will not go down that road to provide those jealous jerks one single valid reason to point their dirty fingers at our group. Members must think before posting! It can be harmful to DEF and in the end it is always turned against me - as has happenend, see thread 590.
So either those unknown guys join DEF here and abide by our rules and our playing-style or there is not going to be any affiliation to DEF.

As for the players in question, they are devoted to the game people who appreciate and love the German navy. That is incorrect. I am using the shared link exactly like the instructions describe! There is simply an issue with some of the links suddenly going bad and does not matter if the image is re-uploaded. This is a MediaFire bug of some sort. I even saw a momentary image from MediaFire stating a temporary issue. Unfortunately, I did not think to get a screenshot. Will do so the next time.
Edited 20180128 @ 17:32 CET: It seems MediaFire has resolved the problem, as the images appear properly, now.

Someone had asked me, I cannot remember who, but this is the answer:
You have Patrols.cfg and Patrols_0.cfg files in every career folder. The first one only shows data on finished patrols. The second one shows the data of the patrols when they started. So you will not see sinking or patrol end date/times in Patrols_0.cfg file.

The situation: It appears a number of members think they can abuse me as their unpaid service-provider, bugging me with every question they might have, resulting in my inbox being full with stuff that these always same persons could easily solve on their own.
And there are a number of others who you can ask, too! Will you look at our roster, dammit!?! Also these always same persons are those who hardly ever attend our meetings and never show any activity on our forum - why do they never create a thread, I would ask?
Conclusion: I can not serve that. I have no time to do mail-support. This waste of completely useless and unnecessary mails severely hinders development progress. I want and need to concentrate on programming and shall not waste my time on fixing PCs of people who never bother to answer in a timely manner when I ask them something and just vanish upon next best occasion anyway.
Decision: My inbox is closed now. Ask someone else. Create a thread. And move your lazy ass to TeamSpeak! Stop repeating the same flimsy excuses and schedule something yourself when you can come. You can't or don't want to do that? Then go and ask your lamer-friends on Susi!
I can still be reached by a number of buddies that REALLY contribute something besides lipservices and of course on TeamSpeak.

Hello, No progress has been done on this. I'm a bit demotivated by lack of help. I don't like how the refinery is looking, I would like it to be realistic and looking like the original one. Unfortunately, I didn't find any plan of this oil installation... :(

Makman's opinion about LSH is also very clear and distinct:
...most of them in lsh team are totally amatuers and untalended. Their work is just a copy-paste workaround and they have give nothing new all these years in sh3 features.Especially , in sensors area , their work (both of lsh team and ccom) are just for...laughs.
so I would not await that. They will not add anything new and the GUI will still be the same anyway.

Just thought I'd post an image of my surgery site on my right leg, so you can get an idea what is keeping me from sitting at my built into the wall (in a corner) computer desk (Let me forewarn those with a weak stomach, it may not be pleasant viewing):
It is roughly 6 cm diameter and 2.5 cm deep. The surgery removed a leiomyosarcoma tumor and incorporated a split thickness skin graft. I must use topical antibiotic cream and keep it exposed to the air (undressed) during the day to aid healing process. Must also keep it elevated as much as possible with limited walking.
So, I'm itching to get back to MP, but apparently it won't be anytime soon. Until then my fellow kommandanten, sink a bunch of merchants for me!!!

Hi all, These are just a few pictures of my visit to see U-534 at Liverpool, obviously I could not post all of them. Hopefully you will all get an idea of what it was like, I really had a good day, you dont realise just how big they are when your standing next to it, but how small it is inside. There are some veiws of the exterior and interior, possessions found inside, and bomb damage which sank it. I hope the pictures do it justice...... Enjoy !

Thank you, They actually cut it into 3 parts, then the open ends have a glass partition so that the compartments can be veiwed, its a shame in one way, but does enable a veiw into the boat which probably wouldnt of been available otherwise, but was still a really great thing to see :)

Hey guys,
I've been exchanging a few PMs with Blitz and I've been receiving some notifications over email which started an old "itch" that needs to be scratched. I won't lie, every now and again I think about the good old days, the golden days, where I spent 18 hours a day playing and modding SH3. I don't think I've spent that much time on any other game throughout my entire life. Honestly, it must have been at least 10,000 hours dumped in SH3 over a few years.
Then real life stroke me hard. I moved to another country, I had no longer support of any friends of family, I had to make ends meet completely alone. I even got arrested for a crime I didn't commit and I had to spend money I didn't have on a lawyer so I didn't get arrested and deported.
Life is more stable now, problems are solved, I've a job and a wife and I'm happy. So SH3 started knocking at my door and I felt like trying it again. In the good old days of 2008/9 I used to be a member of the 100k tonnage, and often enough I'd hit 200k tons in a patrol. One torpedo, one ship. But I must admit that most of those hours were spent modding the game, as I was always unhappy about a few details here and there that I wanted to polish.
One of the mods that I never had the chance to execute, but was always in the back of my mind, was the idea of having the ambient sound of the interior of the U-Boot to match the current situation. So the crew would chit-chat out loud and music would be playing while there was no threat up above, but they would only whisper while in silent running, and you'd be able to feel fear in their voices during depth charge attacks. I had a plan on how that could be done and I even did some very promising tests, however I ran out of time in life as stated above and it never saw the light of day.
Ten years have passed and I probably even forgot how to install the damn thing. I know much has been done for the game during this period, makes me proud to see the SH3 community still up and running, probably the healthiest modding community in all gaming history, and I'm proud to have been part of it.
But so many things have changed and improved, that coming from such a hiatus and facing this wall of new information is quite daunting, a bit discouraging. I did try a few months ago to install SH3, go thru all the mods I wanted, check compatibility, learn about the new SH3.exe tuners/modifiers and after hours of struggle I did managed to get the game running, only to be greeted with a crash-to-desktop a few minutes into my first patrol.
I've been reading up on Blitz tools and there's a lot to learn, there are quite a lot of them (good job on that by the way). Is there anyone here willing to take up the task of re-introducing me to the game and all it's up-to-date marvels? Anybody willing to explain me all the new stuff and how to use it like I'm a 6 year old kid?
I saw GWX Reworked is happening and that got me very excited. Personally I think what HanSolo did with WAC 5.0 is... ahm... a mess, to say it politely. I've tried it for a few minutes and immediately everything I saw and specially everything I heard made me want to uninstall it very quickly, not to mention the ram usage. GWX was the best mega-mod ever made, specially because it was really stable, you could play a patrol in real time for a whole month and not have any game crashes. So to see it get updated with the latest and greatest is really encouraging. And to all of you who kept the torch burning throughout the years, I raise you a glass, well done!
So, sorry for the long text, but I for one like expressing. To understand and to be understood, takes more lines of text than most are willing to type, but I for sure like reading, and I much prefer reading the long replies from any of you.

I try to be on our channel between 16:00 CET (15:00 GMT) and 22:00 CET (21:00 GMT) Monday through Friday. My family schedule is usually too hectic for weekend participation.
BL!TZ is on a lot of the time I have listed above, as well as weekends. The best thing to do is run DEFO and it will alert you to when one of us is on our TS channel.

Blitz, do you think it would be possible to code a piece of software that reads the position of your U-Boot in the nav map and displays it in a web browser page? That way we could use a secondary monitor as a nav map. I feel like this could be quite awesome. Don't know if it was discussed before, but I've seen it done for Kerbal and a couple of other games I play, maybe it could work for SH3?

Phila595 wound up sitting through endless hours of struggle while offering support. Such patience.

In the end, almost 6 hours of thought, trial and challenge later, GD was able to identify the file issue that finally brought KDB back into the land of the multiplayer after over a decade of absence.

Interesting.
I do not believe we shall see the level of depth in new games/simulations in this arena, due to the fact developers seem to be dumbing down the games for the end users, the newest generation of gamers. As it was put above, xbox/ps4/nintendo users - the arcade players who want to jump in and play for a short period of time. They seem to want everything to be fast and easy. That is not what is at the heart of a true ww2 U-Boot sim, such as SH3 with all of the available mods. I believe this is why the newer generations of gamers don't like SH3, and why we are not seeing them join DEF. It is not the graphics as they are quite good, even if not up to the level of SH5. It is the fact that a patrol in SH3 can take a long time, which is bad for them since they don't have the patience nor desire to persevere.

We from DEF follow our old Nordfront-directive to avoid religious and political discussions.
However, what we must dislike as well is the continuous propaganda of Anglo-American media that is constantly and subliminally brainwashed into us having to think who is bad and who were the good. This is not neutral, this is just utterly wrong!
A good example on how subliminal this works is the term "U-Boot". Originating from the German term "Unterseeboot" this would and should be abbreviated to "U-Boot" - just as it is historically correct.
But the political - and not historical - correctness tells the masses to use the term that the wardriver Winston Churchill had 'created' in talking down his enemies using his badmouthing propaganda - both during and after the war. One of the most famous quotes of this guy is "Enemy submarines are to be called U-Boote. The term submarine is to be reserved for Allied under water vessels. U-Boote are those dastardly villains who sink our ships, while submarines are those gallant and noble craft which sink theirs."
We do not do that. We use the term "U-Boot" and the historical emblems. Because it is historically accurate.
Then there is this new upcoming game "UBOOT" - it was originally called UBOOT, and suddenly they have begun to please the anglo-american market and now call it "U-Bo*a*t", because 'U-Bo*a*t is a more known name for them with the international audience' - while many feel that they should have stuck with the original name.
My opinion is that this is yet another good example on how marketing is influenced.
They could have used this wasted opportunity to stand up against anglo-american propaganda and teach the world that U-Bo*a*t is a propaganda term (!) by Churchill and how it is written correctly. Pity.

Hi Blitzkrieg! Holy Cow...I don't know where to begin...I'm shocked that there is actually this SH3 community out here. It is one of my favorite games and I'm glad there is still a lot of interest in it, even though it's been around a long time!

I just got back into SH3 after at least a 6 year- probably 8 year layoff. I aM SHOCKED AT SOME OF THE awesome mods that have came out!!! I plan to follow YOUR advice and run several SH3 game parallel to one another with different Supermods like GWX, LHS3 (Supper cool looking!), and W.A.C. (Supper cool looking!)

I think that the job this group has done to make SH3 an even better game than it was is great! I also think that you guys are to be commended for your enthusiasm for this game! You have some really cool featured like an accurate KM grid and an enigma decoder! I also do feel flattered that I was given a membership to this prestigious group by Blitzkrieg. I appreciate the enthusiasm for some of the missions I wrote years ago.
Though I do feel honored to have been given membership, the fact is I did not apply for it. Why? Because I have LIMITED time to dedicate to video games in my life. I haven't played SH3 in 10+ years. In the LIMITED time I have budgeted for video games I have been relearning the mission editor and manual targeting. I never joined in a MP mission. I never used Tunngle. I never played Call of Duty or any of those online games with multiple players. I don't possess that skill set yet. I probably will eventually, but that's not what I'm working on now.
You're time and energy are valuable, why are you wasting both getting offended and butthurt over emails not being answered? I have roughly 3hrs/week for video gaming. All 3 are used with SH3, but MP missions, ect. are not up on my checklist yet. If that offends some of you- so be it. Just like the line in Stalingrad: "Award revoked!"

Whatever happened between you guys and the guys at Subsim- READ ME PLEASE: I was NOT around and wasn't a part of it. I'm neutral to that conflict. I'm not involved in your feud with them. I had/have nothing bad to say about you guys. At the same time Subsim never did anything wrong to me. Thank You very much for the offer to host my missions on your map with the Silent Hunter Mission Toolkit. To be sure, it's pretty cool. I don't know how to use it yet. I have take time and read through the instructions. I'm not a computer programmer. I work in the medical field. You guys don't seem to use LSH3 supermod. I wanted to write a few easy RUMs with LSH3. They're posted at Subsim because that's what I know how to do and I'm neutral to the nonsense.
I want to write two missions with GWX 3.0 regarding U-482 attacking convoy HX-305 and sinking the Empire Heritage. One is going to be a factual RUM, the other is going to me the same mission but a fictional MP game. I liked the "Avon Lady's" (whatever happened to her?) format and it takes time to write the HTML file with the proper references. That's what I've been up to.
You guys also seem to be preoccupied with monitoring Subsim. You absolutely hate them, so why are you wasting your energy doing that? Here's a suggestion: Go to Amazon.com and get " Darkest Before Dawn: U-482 and the sinking of Empire Heritage 1944" by John Peterson. It's a great read. Spend your valuable time doing something more productive.

As for LSH, I have been member of the DEV-team, so it know it. S3MT supports it, too. In fact the mods that S3MT supports are: GWM,GWX,GWR,14b,RUB,24F,UTW,LSH,WAC - where do you miss it?

I am on vacation from work. So when I have not been busy with the kids, I've been doing some SH3 things. That's why I've been around more.
If you don't mind I have a quick question: I was able to download and install the KM Grid that was suggested in your posts. (It is a great tool!) However, the SH3 game map does not seem to be really accurate as regards the actual Earth. Granted that shouldn't be a shock because this is a GAME. Here's the problem I face: The KM grid descriptions in the missions I've written are off- WAY off compared to where they're supposed to be. For instance, The Coimbra was sunk by U-123 off the Hamptons in LI, New York. The Account says the action occurred at CA 2896. Lining up the wreck site on the nautical charts I have and eyeing it to the SH3 map has put the wreck at CA 2948 when the KM grid is pulled over it! If I put it where it's supposed to be according to the game grid it will be miles more to the west and not off the Hamptons. Should I make the events match the KM Grid OR line it up by eye to match the actual charts? Unfortunately one can not have both. Correct me if I'm wrong. What do hardcore gamers prefer? These guys on DEF strike me as the hardcore type. The Subsim guys seem to be more casual and not as likely to bombard me with tomatoes and torpedoes if some of my work is a bit inaccurate. (Hence the reason I'm more inclined to upload things there first.) I will figure out how to use the Silent Hunter Mission Toolkit coming up. I thought I read that GWX is the supermod used by DEF for MP games. I read the thread in which you posted how to properly mod your game for MP missions. Thanks for your time and Thanks for LSH3 supermod! :)

As some of you know, my grandfather was German, today would be the centenary of his birth. He passed away at age 87 but naturally I think of him today. He was the reason for much. He survived. He went to Mexico (along with my grand-uncle). He was the "officer". As a young boy, growing up in Franco-Spain, I often wondered why people would greet him on the street, some would literally "stand straight". That was my grandfather. May he rest in peace. Why I mention this?
Picture this! Picture me as a small boy growing up in said Franco-Spain and even I was greeted with "HEIL" on the streets. Very odd memories. I remember one occasion... it was summer. I remember it was hot and that several tourists were shocked that native Spainards were driving by on their bikes and greeting me on the street... with "HEIL". Imagine that! Unbelievable? Maybe. But so it happened. And not only once. Looking back I surely did not deserve that kind of respect. What did I have to do with the war that was three decades over. Hardly anything at all.
Today I take the time to watch one of the few NOT softwashed German movies. In the German original. To get the better atmosphere. It was broadcasted on German TV and ever since burried under the rubble of political correctness. It does simple not fit into nowadays German PC-pattern of brainwash of course...

All the people from that generation have such rich stories, it is amazing to hear them. I told you about some of mine. I won't hijack the thread with those stories, this one is celebrating your grandfather.
I saw Generation War (or Unsere Mütter, unsere Väter in German) a few years ago. I thought, on the whole, it was pretty good. I felt their portrayal of the conditions on the Russian front were pretty nicely done. A bit stylized, but they showed the brutality and chaos that seemed to be a day-to-day affair. The actors all did good jobs, too.
However, I found Greta's character to be contrived and unbelievable. All the other characters seemed to have very individual perspective stories that encompassed a lot of what people were experiencing during the war, but didn't completely encompass everything, thus not losing their individuality. I felt like the writers decided Greta was going to experience every single other possible aspect of the war that the others didn't experience. She just seemed like a mish mash of experiences that were just thrown together to make sure that they had covered all the bases. Since they did that with her, I think that it really opens itself up to a lot of the criticisms you see on Wikipedia that the movie was trying to portray the German people as victims or dupes. Had they just wrote a more individual story for her, it would be much more plausible that this story was just about five people who weren't Nazis in Nazi Germany.
Friedhelm was my favorite character, but (avoiding spoilers here) I was very disappointed with the end of his story. He had a superior character arc, but to end his story that way was very uncreative and disappointing. The writers really dropped the ball on that one and there were several options that would have been much better.
It was, on the whole good, but there were some areas where there could have been some definite improvement.

We in |DEF (http://www.donitzeliteflotilla.com)| are not using the file by Sublynx. What he did was take the AOTD-papers, scan them and put them into the game as draggable sheets. We use our own mod reflecting the grids on the whole map. But we have not published it.

:icon1: Hello, I am excited to be a member of this forum group. I enjoyed SH3. I had bought the game when it was first released(yup, were talking the Red covered DVD that comes with the map). Latter on I discovered the GWX mod(no, not the 3.0, I am talking the VERY first one made, GWX it's self). Latter on I discovered 2.0 and then the 3.0. I did enjoy it, it was fun to play. I like the work that was put into it all. It inspired me to do my own.
Once I discovered the S3D_v099 editor and Netpaint, I was off and running. I had found the missing detail on the default ships and put them in their graphics slots and what not. Went over sensors to get everyone to work. For example by default, destroyers rely on sonar only, but once I reset it up, they could use everything. radar, sonar, hydrophones. Balanced them out. So sometimes you could loose them, other times, they get you. Or they give up. So when your hiding from being depth charged, you could be in it for up to 30mins(unless the destroyers are escorting a convoy, then they broke off when the convoy got too far). I resolved issues with the type 9s and did walk around fixes, includes IXD2 model. I had rebuild the spawn maps(I mean really rebuild the spawn maps), and I lay out certain pre-set rand_script spawn units to be ported to the script maps so they could work together. This included the setting up all trade routs. And radio messages that were set up only to speak to the player, it covered flotillas effected as well as what type of U-Boot to be dispatch. For example, lets say it is January 1940. In my mod, according to history, Type B U-Boote had already been available since 1939, and Type C U-Boote were coming next. it is kind of important to know this because the 2nd Flotilla gets the Type 9B at game start(my mod was not type 7 orientated, everyone was covered). Anyway, So for example it is in January 1940, and during this month the player gets a radio message that says something like, "Attention... Special Operations orders: Flotilla's Effected: 1st, 2nd and 7th. U-Boote Effected, all type 7s and type 9s only. Standby for orders. All type 2s are to maintain their current orders... -STOP"(this would repeat twice 4min apart). And a next message may say something like, "Special Operations orders: Continued... All Out going type 7 and type 9 U-Boote are to ignore current orders and conduct independent patrols off the west coast of Norway. All Incoming Type 7 and type 9 U-Boote who are still heading to port, may do so to report in, but must return back to patrol and head to do independent patrols off the west cost of Norway. Area to patrol: AF (grid number), (grid number), (grid number). Maintain Patrol as long as provisions, weapon, fuel is available before returning to port. You are to maintain these orders til further notice. -Bdu.". There maybe no further orders for this maybe until like March, canceling operations for the 2nd Flotilla, maybe just the type 9's, maybe type 9s for the 1st, 2nd and 7th flotilla, but the type 7s are to remain in operations. Stuff like this, because once a radio message was sent, it was mostly a real operation for the player to do. And Not every player is a type 7 Captain. Nor bonded to only one flotilla. I wanted it optional. After all, I am a type 9 Captain of the second flotilla. The last thing I was doing was testing this for auto flotilla change. I noticed this was a sloppy job, and maybe a misunderstanding how this went, and the game can not tell the difference between type 2, type 7, type 9. because if you have any one of these boats, your going to La Spezia regardless. Which is a type 7 location itself. Type 2's are coastal boats and were already going out of the picture and used for training near Germany. Type 9's were long range boats that ran independently farther out, they not going to La Spezia. Were type 7 are cheaper and quicker to make, and can be done so at the ports. As well as maybe sneak in. But the game will send you regardless. I was working on stopping the auto-transfer. this way, not matter what flotilla your in, your in it. But radio messages would tell you what is available when it became available.
It was about 5 months of work or better. I am guessing about 5 because it was around 2018. So it had been a long while. But, I am not smart enough to maintain updates of the mod on another drive, or burn them to DVD. SO.... the hard drive crashed. And with a "clickety, clickety click, wine.." that is the end of that :alc:. I was so disgusted, I had to step away. To just get as far as I did then its going to be like that. So recently I began to slowly go back into this again, and started looking at what I may have archived on DVD's and some old HD's I have here. What I was able to find, I had already copied over to my new WIN7 hard drive. I am so glad, I found all the SH3 title graphics. I went through a lot of trouble looking at old WWII War photo's to find what I wanted for this. I am currently looking for any of my map builds, they are so what is important. I really hate to do that all over again, it took the longest work, a real pain in the back side, but that may just be how it is going to go. because complaining about it will not rebuild the random or script map again. It is looking that way..

I do not know why WC does that either. And even when you write something as GE did ("Eh? What that?"), he still does not respond. Also WC is not a DEF-member, he has never applied for membership. He is just here, I can not even quite remember why one of us assigned him a GUEST MODDER account. None of us has ever seen a mod by him.
So all this reporting in is useless, there is ZERO other activity - and all the users who were doing just that in the past because they were thinking they could keep their account alive, dropped to ZERO activity and fell off the roster. 100% quota. Example: Kingofnothing, Alfred Keitzer and so on.

5 years ago we were shocked about the news about our group-leader LAUFEN ZUM ZIEL that were announced on SuSi by WK: VERY SAD NEWS: Laufen zum Ziel RIP (http://subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=220810). Ken had obviously not survived falling, which might on its own sound a bit odd, but was a severe issue to him because he was an amputee. I have never spoken to his wife on more detailed information, e.g. whether he suffered from pneumonia. In any case and despite his age it must have been very tragic. The rest is not important anymore.
What I find so disgusting is that even my condolences that I posted into that thread were deleted by the SNOT(s) on SuSi in their brainless rage against me, even the following post that I however luckily found backupped:

I have been getting really into researching my campaign U-Boot; U-74. Sadly there are no known pictures available online, but I found this incredible auction; someone in 2016 was selling a set of original photographs of E.F. Kentrat being awarded the Knight's Cross on the deck of a submarine.
The set of pictures also included this picture, and I wondered who this man was. Of course I noticed the Knight's Cross around his neck, and on Dec. 31, 1941, TWO people received the Knight's Cross; E.F. Kentrat and Robert Karl Friedrich Gysae, commander of U-98.
Kentrat commanded U-74 at the time and Gysae commanded U-98
U-74 was a VIIb, U-98 was a VIIc. If these pictures depict a VIIb model submarine. These might be the only known pictures of U-74 during WW2. What is even more interesting; there is a picture of the crew. If this is a VIIb sub, this might be the only known picture of the crew of U-74 under Kentrat's command.
Can someone identify the submarine model based on these pictures?

Both Kentrat and Gysae received their Knight's Cross that day on the same submarine. Question is; were they on Kentrat's or on Gysae's sub? I would guess, the dog and pony show took place on the higher ranking officer's sub. I will have to see what Kentrat and Gysae's rank was at the time.
