After finding out that so many hedge-hog-armed escorts were coming for his location (ALL Boote were ordered to stay surfaced and go full speed, the other two overtaking him already), BL!TZKR!EG then dove FAST to change his position and raised snorkel and turned - which drew the attention to the other boats, too.

In this action Keitzer was sunk, B. heavily damaged (had to abandon boat) and only little tonnage:

Wolfpack operation, North Atlantic, large escorted convoy out of Halifax bound for Great Britain.

All 3 U-Boote started in reasonable attack positions, Phila595 was furthest west, Gatordad east of his position and Lepper east of Gatordad.
Phila595 launched attack on tanker and had 1 dud and two eels to low and was immediately targeted by one of the escorts, which he tried to lure away from the convoy, it was soon joined by a second with which he had an evasion duel for the next 3 hours.
Gatordad and Lepper led a simultanious attack on a troop ship and tanker with Lepper being successful, Gatordad did infact score a hit on a tanker without success, both were then attacked by escorts, Gatordad and crew fought bravely, but sustained too much damage and was unable to stem the flooding and was unfortunately lost.
Lepper and Phila595 continued their respective duels with two escorts each, Lepper cleverly used a striken cargo ship for shelter, and at strategic moment went to periscope depth and launched a fish sinking one enemy escort.
Phila595 continued to draw the escorts away from the convoy having to evade depth charge after depth charge runs sustaining some conning tower damage, one escort departed back to the convoy leaving Phila595 and Lepper dueling with one escort each, both escorts expended all theyre depth charges, so Phila595 rose to periscope depth and sank a destroyer with one fish, then set course to assist Lepper who had by this time used all of his eels.
In a joint maneuvre Lepper and Phila595 lured the remaining escort into such a position as Phila595 could fire his remaining eels, the first one missing but striking home with the second destroying the escort.
Both U-Boote then surfaced and made for home port, Gatordad, their fallen comrade was toasted on return.

The main purpose of this patrol was to reactivate a very rusty KaLeun. Therefore 3 U-Boote engaged a large, but weak protected convoy. Bleichrodt had some problems coordinating his crew, so Lepper saved him by sinking a destroyer which chased his U-Boot. This allowed Blitzkrieg to sink a nice number of ships.

The escorts were on us very early in this session. We were able to avoid significant damage for a while
and were fortunate enough to sink a few merchants. BL!TZ was busy accumulating quite a bit of tonnage,
while gatordad danced with the escorts, in a bad way.

FINALLY getting the new members into it - and phila595 from...ah...

Joke aside, the mission was "19401001_MP_DEF_GWM_MP ROCKALL PATROL - K"
and we started like eggs in an egg-box. Unfortunately I forgot to make pictures of that!

Alx then raised his periscope and took speed ahead. That caused noise that jeopardized our group immediately
I asked: "Hey Alex, what speed are you doing", but got no response. He was practically doing his own game.

Nevertheless it was fun - and good that we got our newbies sorted.

Installation-wise it is as always: Follow our instructions and do not just assume and try something.
That WILL crash you out. As we know from experience.

Rough seas and dark around.
We were spread appart +-10 km so we had a lot off space between us.
It all started good until the escorts picked up our mate stahljaeger.
He got caught by depthcharges.
Herr Opitz and me did manage to sunk some cargo ships.
We evaded the escorts and remained undetected. But Herr Opitz did get some pressure hull damage, he hit the floor let us say... at 120m nobody got hurt.

Early day time attack of an escorted large convoy with several prize targets (large troop ships). Most of us were under attack or harrased by the escorts at some
point during this engagement. BL!TZ took some damage but we all survived to fight another day.

Dawn attack on a lightly escorted convoy, with additional escorts enroute. After several successful attack runs on the convoy, we were pursued by numerous escorts.
Eventually, gatordad escaped without damage. Unfortunately, Pierce sustained critical hull damage resulting in the sinking of his u-boot. BL!TZ was relentlessly hounded
by 4 escorts (2 Swan Class and 2 Flowers Class) for over 2 hours, receiving significant damage to his diesels and other areas. However, he lived to fight another day.

Early morning attack on a large convoy. Escorts were on us within the first hour. Gatordad made quick his escape and headed
south to fight another day. BL!TZ was the magnet today, drawing 5 escorts and one Hudson bomber for a while, but finally was
able to slip away. Phil was able to avoid damage from an escort and headed south as well. Good hunting, kommandanten!

Early morning attack on a large escorted convoy.
All Kommandanten scored tonnage, but also had to dance with the destroyers, gatordad being the most successful while also having a to use 5 eels on a very large troop ship and taking out a destroyer.
Blitzkrieg and phila both fired on destroyers with blitz severely damaging 1 and phila sinking another.
All three eventually escaped unharmed ready to form up and attack on another day.

We welcome Duntrew as MP-Kaleun, so I quickly scripted a mission to get his feet wet.

In the beginning I wasted one torpedo after another on the Southhampton and Blackswan, while Duntrew scored some nice hits on the targets.

After evading the Blackswan, that bugger went over to Duntrew and pressured him underwater for quite a time. In the meantime I was able to surface and reload external torpedos and resumed attack on the convoy.

The Blackswan let off Duntrew and came for me, but could be sunk:

Daytime convoy attack on the seas. Started trailing the convoy and after Pierce adamantly proving he couldn't hit a ship with a torpedo if it was welded to the bow tubes of his boat..he decided on surface action; even firing a couple of rounds over the stern of Blitz' boat as Blitz skimmed by between Pierce and the targeted merchant.
Majority of convoy vessels were sunk and both boats returned safely to there previous agenda.
Was a happy day of hunting!!!

Early morning attack on a large convoy. Escorts were on us shortly after the first salvo was fired. BL!TZ had a difficult time sinking a medium tanker,
taking 5 eels and an hour to do so. Nevertheless, he made quick his escape and headed deep to fight another day. Lepper collected the most tonnage
and was able to avoid detection, heading deep as well. Gatordad, after sinking 4 merchants, became the magnet today, drawing 5 escorts for a while.
Fortunately, he finally was able to slip away. Good hunting, kommandanten!

This was a test of a new mission I created primarily for manual targeting practice, but has demonstrated good quality for standard MP use with only a few
minor tweaks (I hope to have ready for upload soon). Morning attack on a large convoy with numerous good targets. We all had our share of duds and premature
detonations, but were successful in sending quite a few merchants to Davey Jones' locker. Oddly enough, the escorts were caught napping, or perhaps away for tea,
and never posed a threat. Excellent results, kommandanten!

Mission: Kaleuns Surprise III

Lepper experienced connection issues and was disconnected several times at the start of the mission. Gatordad did well for a while, then danced with the escorts, losing out in the end to the onslaught of depth charges and hedgehogs. Meanwhile, BL!TZ was quite successful in accumulating tonnage and slipping away to fight another day.

Mission: Kaleuns Surprise II

Phil and Gatordad encountered a large convoy and set up their ambush position. After commencing the successful attack, Phil sank 2 merchants but drew the attention of several escorts and initially suffered some minor damage. After repairs were made, he spent the remainder of the mission evading the escorts and avoiding further damage. Meanwhile, gatordad was very successful in sinking 5 merchants, and was able to slip away without being detected.

Mission: 19401020_MP_GWM_RUM_Convoy_HX-79

Test of newly created mission. This was a challenging one, with limited visability and rain. Normal peasoup weather for the British Isles and North Atlantic.
Both gatordad and phila595 had some success, sinking a few merchants. However, the fun was cut short as we had to dance a bit with the escorts, avoiding
damage from the depth charges. After 1 hour and some change, we were finally able to sneak away to fight another day.

Mission: 19401020_MP_GWM_RUM_Convoy_HX-79_easier

Test of easier version of newly created mp mission. Early on, BL!TZ and gatordad had success in sinking several merchants. Phil encountered
bad luck with his eels, with multiple duds. Also, several of the ships he did manage to hit would not sink. At that point, 3 escorts were on to Phil,
forcing him to go deep. Meanwhile, gatordad and BL!TZ each succeeded in sinking 5 ships. Two warships hounded BL!TZ from that point forward.
Gatordad was able to sneak away undetected. Phil eventually met his demise when his boot reached critical depth and could not recover in time.

Mission: 19401020_MP_GWM_RUM_Convoy_HX-79 (new mission in testing)

This was a challenging mission, with poor visibility, fog, rain and heavy overcast conditions. It was hard spotting ships unless they were within 700 meters.
This also made it more difficult for the escorts to spot us, so in that respect, the scales were evenly balanced.

We selected what targets we could spot, fired our salvos and then made quick our escape. Phil had a brief encounter with two escorts, but was able to avoid
any damage.

BL!TZ and gatordad happened upon a smaller convoy laden with heavy ships. Oddly enough, the two lead escorts were a London class cruiser
and an Auxillary cruiser. The convoy was successfully ambushed, with the cruisers being sunk first. Afterwards, our attention was directed to
the convoy, resulting in significant tonnage sent to the bottom. We both had to dance with the escorts for quite a while, but eventually evaded
without any damage.

LE was lucky with his salvo hitting and sinking 3 ships. I sunk one and damaged the battleship, which of course did not sink.

That mission was a nightmare. I was quickly surrounded by 3 escorts which appeared to come from nowhere.
Out of a sudded it was 9 escorts. I may have taken out and sunk one of them but when I escaped the HHs of one
I ran straight into those of another.

The remaining 8 escorts then found GD as pictured.

But interesting to play - and glad it was only a simulation. And congrats to SP for a well-played mission AND SURVIVAL!!!

And quite especially I welcome Rick among the Elite of Wolfpack-players!!!!

Introduced Dieter Trautmann to DEF Multiplayer. We all had a great time with a decent mission. However, the merchants tended
to slow down to 1 knot and then speed up just when an eel was closing in. Will look into this issue in the mission. We all danced

This was a wolfpack attack on a task force
Phila595 was discovered quite soon into the attack, Gatordad managed to launch eels along with Blitz damaging HMS King George VI battlaship.
Unfortuanately Gatordad was discovered soon after which left Blitz to continue the attack alone which resulted in the sinking of the King George VI along with the Illustrious and a Kent class destroyer.
After a considerable amount of time dancing with the escorts, Gatordad was sunk and Phila595 surrendered the uboot saving the crew.

A manual targeting wolfpack refresher session took place using the mission AM1766_19401001_MP_14B_FIC_THE_HAPPY_TIME (http://www.donitzeliteflotilla.com/forum/index.php?msg=5889)

Things started out pretty well for our small wolfpack. BL!TZ was attacking several merchants and experienced several premature
detonation of the less than favorable type II eels. The escorts managed to single out Phil, just as he launched his 4 eel salvo, causing
him to spend the remainder of his time evading and avoiding catastrophic damage. Meanwhile, gatordad was able to sink a few
merchants, knock out one of the escorts chasing Phil, and was making good his escape when isp connection drop caused the game to end.
Fortunately we were at a point where we could conclude the end of the mission was in sight.

Needless to say, this was a fun manual targeting refresher mission.

Phil and gatordad decided a manual targeting mission would be nice, so we decided to go with a repeat of the previous mission. It indeed turned out to
suit manual targeting quite nicely. We were able to set up our initial target plots and wait patiently for the targets of choice to present a good firing solution.
After successfully sinking our first tankers, we had to wait a lengthy time for the forward tubes to be reloaded. We were able to sink an additional ship
and then sneak away without detection.

Mission name: 19400408_MP_happy times.mis

BL!TZ and gatordad entered into a lightly escorted convoy, commencing their attack. However, BL!TZ was rammed by a modern tanker,
sustaining damage, and inadvertently was struck by an eel gatordad had released towards a following large tanker. BL!TZ suffered
significant damage from the eel, but was able to regain control of his sinking u-boot and eventually surfaced. We made good our escape
to the southwest.

This was a quite unfortunate scenario, that I hope to not encounter again! My apology, once again, Jefe!

Mission name: Happy Times

Blitz, phila595 and gatordad commenced their attack on a lightly escorted convoy. Gatordad took on the lead escort,
an auxillary cruiser, with the intent of luring the other escort (a Hunt class destroyer) in close for a good opportunity
to sink it as well. Meanwhile, BL!TZ and phila595 were moving within the convoy and sinking targets of opportunity at
will. Phila595 was able to sink the Hunt class escort, along with several merchants. Eventually, BL!TZ decided to make
a risky surface attack and finish off a large merchant. This brave move almost resulted in a collision between BL!TZ
and gatordad, as he chose to dive in reverse instead of forward. Fortunately, we were able to avoid a collision. However,
BL!TZ and phila595 came under attack by several escorts for several hours. We all escaped without damage, and lived
to fight another day.

Mission name: AL3682_19420901_MP_GWX_FIC_Burning_The_Dawn

This was a wolfpack attack on a large convoy, Gatordad and phila595 ran into escort trouble pretty quickly and spent most of the mission evading, phila595 at one point was in a cat and mouse duel with 4 escorts, but managed to escape uninjured and undamaged, Blitz in the meantime was leading the attack on the convoy by himself managing to sink some good tonnage which would of been even better had the tanker he had crippled with 2 eels sank instead of somehow staying afloat, In the end all uboote escaped undamaged ready to attack future convoys.

Phila595 and gatordad wanted a challenging mission for manual targeting, so we decided on Gibraltar Moon. As it turned out, this was a night time
mission which made ship identification significantly challenging. Things started off pretty well, and we were able to sink a few merchants. However,
the escorts quickly came to investigate and we were forced to seek shelter in the deep waters west of the Gibraltar Strait. Eventually, we made good
our escape, living to fight another day.

BL!TZ, Phil & gatordad successfully attacked a medium sized convoy escorted by 8 warships. We easily met the mission goal of sinking 25,000
tons. Gatordad danced with 4 escorts for a while, and successfully escaped after hiding under a tanker until it started moving again. Unfortunate
for BL!TZ, those escorts then set a direct course to his location, forcing him to use the same tactic of hiding under a stationary ship.

This was a later war attack on a heavily defended convoy including air cover.
Blitz, Gatordad and phila595 all came under heavy attack after launching salvos and trying to escape to safty, all were picked up by veteran destroyer crews equipped with much better equipment including the deadly hedgehog.
This was a very interesting mission but extremely nerve jangling one

That was really a fiasco-mission. I hit several ships - and not one got scored for me. Then I got a River Class Frigate and his second Hedge-Hog-attack cause some damage. All repaired though and I was able to dance with him maintaining depth at 190m. Eventually he ran out of hedge-hogs, then even of depth charges. I went up to 12m and lined up a perfect straight shot - Phil and I were shocked that this really went UNDER the RCF. I said to Phil I should make a screenshot that I had set the TII to 3,7m + 1m = 4,7m depth and it did not explode.

So not even that RCF was done. I had a bad evening somehow :) But we all survived to fight the Anglo-Americans another day...

Phila595 and gatordad were attempting to get into good firing positions when 5 escorts headed towards Phil. He managed to get one hit on an
auxillary cruiser out of a four eel salvo, but was forced deep and could not get off any further shots. He was able to verify that the VIIc can handle
depths up to 260 meters! Meanwhile, gatordad was able to fire all available eels and acquire some decent tonnage before being harassed by 5
escorts. We were able to successfully slip away without any damage, living to fight another day!

Attack on an escorted convoy with reinforcement escorts arriving during the attack.
There are some really prize targets to attack, phila595, von bish and gatordad moved into position, but were soon having problems with the escorts, of which von bish managed to sink one.
All three kommandanten sank tonnage, but all had to battle with the escorts, gatordad taking on four for a prolonged period of time before taking to much damage and sinking. Von bish dicing with
two destroyers and evading for a long time before being critically damaged and sinking, while phila595 had to evade four escorts at one point managed to escape the area undamaged.

Phila595 and gatordad had to act quickly to intercept a fast moving convoy (12 kts). We were able to empty our four bow tubes, but with limited success.
Almost immediatly afterwards, several escorts closed in on gatordad. He was able to sink the first one, then went deep in an attempt to escape. Meanwhile,
phila595 was tracking a straggler tramp steamer, but all eels launched were unsuccessful in taking down the merchant. Gatordad was able to return to peri-
scope depth and track down and sink two stragglers. We were successful in avoiding further detection and departed the area.

We had limited success against these merchants moving at 14 kts. The escorts detected Phil and let loose their

Mission name:02-ON67 ( part name only, unable to locate in archive )

Attack on a convoy bound for Halifax, both phila595 and Gatordad had to take on destroyers, sinking 2 each, with Gatordad having to contend with another which hindered his ability to sink any merchant tonnage. Phila595 managed to sink 2 tankers before also having to duel with destroyers.
Both were limited in there escape by the depth of water they were operating in, both U-boote taking some damage, phila595 eventually managing to evade and escape and Gatordad slowly bringing his U-boot to rest on the ocean bed evading any further incident.
Both Kommandanten and crew live to fight another day

Phila595 and gatordad initiated a night-time attack on a British Task Force. However, gatordad had to tend with an escort early on, leaving Phil to
conduct a solo attack. The Task Force moved eastward at high speed, making it difficult, if not impossible to continue the attack. Phil sucessfully
sank the HMS Nelson, while gatordad was able to find a thermal at 122 meters and sneak away from 2 escorts.

BL!TZ, KDB, Phil and gatordad were set up for attacks on a large convoy with many juicy targets. The escorts harassed BL!TZ early on,
but he was able to avoid any damage. Phil and gatordad were able to press home their attacks without being detected. Unfortunate for

Mission name: I must appoligize, I did not get this part. :(

The convoy was heading out after regrouping at the islands, initially heading east around 5 kts. Blitz was initially on the east of the smaller isle and KDB on the west. KDB surfaced and headed flank for 5000m to catch the convoy. The convoy then unexpectedly split and some of the ships headed south toward KDB's port while the remainder continued on east in front of Blitz. Blitz was able to put torpedoes into several high value targets and was then surrounded by first 3 then 5 escorts and he was able to successfully evade to live and fight another day. KDB was not as lucky as after 5 torpedo strikes he was attacked and hit by several depth charges, causing unrecoverable damage in the engine compartment. He sank and was KIA.

Mission: Atlantic Pincer; Blitz and KD were witness to a raiders attempt to attack a convoy. Blitz took action against the cruiser who was attacking the raider, and then turned his torpedoes on several transports and tankers. KD was doing his best to catch up to the convoy and then was put under weight of a flower class destroyer. Blitz ran out of torpedoes and took shelter in the deep while KD tried 6 fruitless shots. He was then attacked by Clemson class and friends, but managed to evade. Both survived.

The convoy was lightly escorted but very close to begin the mission. KD let loose torpedoes and Blitz also. Quite a few torpedo issues, multiple pre-ignitions and several bounces. Not what we were hoping for, but good results just the same. Not much challenge from escorts at all.

Mission name: Convoy CM-45

The task of the woldpack was to intercept a well escorted troop transport.

Both uboots were attacked from the air shortly after the mission began. Some minor damage was received by Blitz, who, after successful repairs positioned his uboot south of the oncoming contacts. KapitanDeepblu positioned himself along the northern edge of the convoy. Both remained undetected as the action began. The convoy consisted of several escorts and heavy cruisers and torpedoes in the water began zig-zags causing most torpedoes to miss intended targets. Blitz's spread of 4 torpedoes landed upon a revenge class that subsequently sunk and KapitanDeepblu's spread of 4 with 2 follow up torpedoes sunk the troop transport. The second troop transport was hit by several torpedoes and left immobile and sinking. Both kommanders, out of torpedoes and/or shots due to distance headed deep aft of the quickly escaping remainder of the convoy. The two kommanders were never detected.

Mission name: Nordic Noon

The task of the wolfpack was to intercept a well escorted convoy that has departed from Nordic bound for Helifax.

Both u-boots were well south of contact to heading north was essential. The escorts came first and Blitz dispatched of the first which was a black swan class. The second was a flower that came too close to KapitanDeepblu and was dispatched, along with a second attacking flower class soon after, which was also dispatched. Blitz disposed of large cargo class and then unfortunately errant torpedoes hit and sank a neutral large troop ship. Escorts were a bit upset at the sinking of the flowers and attacked KapitanDeepblu with several swan and C&D class escorts. KapitanDeepblu was able to dispatch an additional Black Swan class before being heavily damaged by a C&D class depth charge run. After surfacing the fatally damaged ship and getting as many of the crew to life rafts as possible, the boat sank after multiple hits from enemy fire.

Freshly converted, I wanted to try this mission. No matter if the other lamer members want to play.
Waited long enough on TS3.

Anyway, the first torps went amiss and then I scored 4 magnetic hits on the KG V and somehow I
managed to hit the FiJi. So two kills.

But no chance against the laser-guided DCs of the 6 escorts. Got hit exactly at my engines and so
was no longer able to maneuver. All engines out with one hit. Thanks. So we repaired the most
necessary stuff and surfaced the U-Boot, so my crew could escape with their lives...

AND CHURCHILL WAS SUNK ! :ok:

Very shallow waters, depth was only some 40 meters. So I had little other opportunity.
And it took ages to slip out under that immobile DD and shake the last two off...
Batteries were already down to less than 20%.

I then surfaced the U-Boot, reloaded externals and then went to sink that DD.
Out of a sudden the other appeared and fired at me. Back to dive, same procedure.

U-Boot was heavily damaged, but we made it... to fight another day...
